Mac McAnally: The Jimmy Buffett sideman is back for another show of rock, blues, folk and country. As a songwriter, McAnally has provided hits for Buffett (”It’s My Job”), Alabama (”Old Flame”), Shenandoah (”Two Dozen Roses”) and without his input, Sawyer Brown’s “Greatest Hits 1990-1995″ would be half as long. Even famed thespian Adrienne Barbeau has done one of his tunes. The Alabama-born Renaissance man operates his own recording studio in Muscle Shoals, Ala., and his nine-album career includes a stint as the first artist signed to Geffen Records.

According to an article at the Martin Guitar website Jimmy Buffett Navigates Musical Waters With Seaworthy “Pollywog” And “Shellback” Editions, two more Buffett Signature Guitars will be available. The two new models will have a nautical theme. Orders for the 2 models can be received by any Martin dealer between now and and April 16 2003.

I just heard the Top Ten Rock Rehab Tunes as voted on by listeners to WZLX (100.7 FM) in Boston. Margaritaville was in the #5 slot! I’m not all that sure this is a good thing… just thought I’d report it.

FWIW… he was in some pretty good company, Clapton (”Cocaine”), Jefferson Airplane (”White Rabbit”), The Stones (”Mother’s Little Helper”), and Tom Petty (”Last Dance For Mary Jane”) to name a few.
