The Palm Beach Post had an article today on excuses people use to get out of jury duty, “That’s no excuse“. The excuses run the usual gamut from sickness, military service, loss of income, etc. Many excuses work well and it really works if the “pleader says he can’t comply with a jury summons because he’s a “world renowned musician/celebrity…(who) never knows exactly where in the world he will be on any given day”. That’s gotten James William (Jimmy) Buffett of Palm Beach excused repeatedly in the past three years.” Gee, I have served jury duty now twice in the past three years in West Palm Beach. Think I will use as my excuse next time … “I follow around a renowed musician/celebrity..(who) never knows exactly where in the world he will be on any given day”. Think I’ll get excused ???

You can now pre-order Tom Corcoran’s latest novel, “Octopus Alibi”
Author Tom Corcoran expertly captures the soul of Key West with all its eccentricities, secrets and progress in the expertly plotted Octopus Alibi. Corcoran’s fourth novel works well as a hard-boiled regional mystery that shows the town’s myriad images of both tourists and those who call the Southernmost City home.
A photographer whose work has appeared on seven Jimmy Buffett album covers, Corcoran translates those visual images to the printed page. He uses real places such as Baby’s Coffee, Blue Heaven Restaurant and Louie’s Backyard as landmarks and to add to the sense of realism. More importantly, Octopus Alibi sketches out an atmospheric view of Key West, from a ceaseless wind, a salt mist that lingers in the air and on the skin that never seems to cease, and the “endemic tear-downs and remodeling jobs.”

From Cindy: There is an article in the March issue of Vanity Fair Magazine on Jimmy & Jane Buffett, with a picture of them in front of their Aspen condo.
There is a quote from Jimmy when the author talks about all the private planes, and famous rich folks who live in Aspen because of the level of privacy in that town. I’m not sure if Jimmy is talking about flying… or about celebrity life when he says “Under the radar, always under the radar”.

The Toronto Star has an article that mentions Jimmy Buffett: Simpsons still a riot at 300, er 302? Doh!
A lame 2000 outing that foresaw Lisa as president and Bart as Jimmy Buffett in the future — and which Entertainment Weekly rightly dubbed the “worst episode ever” in a recent survey of favourite Simpsons shows.

MTV News has an article “New Plans Offer Concertgoers Bootlegs When The Encore’s Done” that mentions plans in the Boston area within the next few months by Clear Channel Concerts to start burning live CDs at select concerts and offering them for sale within minutes of the final encore. Disclive plans to concentrate on artists with large followings of fans obsessed with the nuances of every show, such as jam bands, as well as more well-heeled concertgoers who might not attend as many shows but can afford, say, a souvenir Jimmy Buffett live CD.
Go to the the Disclive website and recommend that they offer this service for Jimmy Buffett.
