From BobRob: I just caught a commercial on Comedy Central for Buffett’s upcoming release “Meet Me in Margaritaville. The 60 second spot played several snippets from the newly recorded classics as well as Sail on Sailor. Good concert footage also. What caught my attention though was the order info page at the end of the spot complete with toll free number and a mailing address in CO.

Toby Keith was down here recording in JB’s studio, when Mr. Buffett stopped by to say hello. Here’s the blurb:
During a break in recording Thursday, a well-tanned gentleman in sunglasses appeared on the studio’s boardwalk: It was Jimmy Buffett. Keith has been a fan of Buffett’s for many years, citing him as one of his favorite performers and someone with whom he’d like to write. In an interview with Country Line Magazine, Keith called Buffett one of his songwriting heroes, referring to how Buffett doesn’t need to rely on radio play. “He has fought the good fight and won,” Keith said, “he has the ultimate gig.”

Parrothead Cruise 2003 was a tremendous success! The Atlanta Parrot Head Club’s 5th annual phlocking saw 251 parrotheads from 29 states and 28 PHiP clubs make the trek and we had a wonderful time. In addition to having fun, we also did a lot of good. We delivered clothing gathered during our clothing drive to the Red Cross in St. Maarten AND through the money earned by the cruise and from several onboard events and raffles we raised *FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS* to support breast cancer research and awareness!
Jeff Pike and Koney Ferrell of A1A rocked the boat and played at an unforgettable party on the beach in Barbados. They also debuted A1A’s new CD of all-original music entitled “Ship Happens!” It was a lovely cruise. Coming soon, there will be plenty of pictures and stories on the cruise website, http://www.parrotheadcruise.com
I’m excited to announce that Parrothead Cruise 2004 is already in the works! The theme is “Down to the Banana Republics” and we’ll be setting sail next March for Belize, Costa Rica and Panama. Details will be announced soon. I hope you can join us next year!

Margaritaville.com has posted some photos of Jimmy and the band recording some of the tracks in the studio in Key West back in January of this year.
There is also a small write up with the photos (probably from the introduction in the sleve of the CD). The new album will include a 32-page booklet with liner notes by Tom Corcoran.

Today’s Boston Globe mentions potential traffic problems in Mansfield for the Labor Day shows in the article “Organizers not out of woods yet”
The group already knows it has one added challenge to the traffic situation; that is, the Jimmy Buffet concerts at the nearby Tweeter Center. When the tournament was first announced, there were talks to try and move the concert dates, but people who know Buffet said it wouldn’t be done — and it wasn’t. Buffet keeps to a strict schedule — never two nights in a row — so he’ll play when he always plays at the Tweeter Center: Thursday and Saturday nights before Labor Day.
