[b:94500b94f1]PubClub.com[/b:94500b94f1] has embarked on a three-concert mini-tour and are posting photos and writeups on the web site. We just returned from the near-private show in Las Vegas, but there’s still so much to be done. So we’re wandering and following Jimmy to Anaheim (on a party bus of 50!) and then Honolulu. Just go to PubClub.com and click on the Shot of the Day photo or the link beneath the pic.

[b:f67d3553d3]The Tennessean[/b:f67d3553d3] has an article “No, Kenny won’t be in a bikini” that mentions the title song from the new album “License To Chill” will be featured in a video and DVD for the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue.

[i:f67d3553d3]Kenny and Jimmy Buffett cut a Caribbean-ish duet called License To Chill, a song for Buffett’s upcoming album. Sports Illustrated likes it. The magazine likes it so much that its swimsuit issue models are featured in the music video. And a DVD of that same video will be included in each and every one of the 6 million copies printed.[/i:f67d3553d3]

I was watching the 35th anniversary of 60 Minutes the other evening and lo and behold, one of the featured stories was about our favorite king of all things tropical, Jimmy! They showed a snippet of a 1997 concert and a quote from Jimmy about looking at all the costumed craziness. Jimmy was described as “A little thin on top and a little round in the middle” and the unlikely leader of a nation called Margaritaville. Long may he rule!

Yesterday, a friend called and told me he thought Jimmy was flying into Santa Barbara this morning. Since it was a holiday, I made a couple of phone calls to some fellow club members and we met early this morning at the Santa Barbara airport.

We were hanging around one of the private air terminals keeping an eye on incoming flights. Finally, after about an hour and a half we see Jimmy’s Falcon coming in. We watch it taxi in and a Mercedes SUV is driven out to the plane and in jumps Jimmy. We all headed over to the gate we anticipated them to exit from and sure enough, he comes the Mercedes SUV with Jimmy driving!

As he pulls through the gate, we gave him the universal Parrot Head “Fins Up!” signal…at which point he starts laughing, pulls up next to us, lowers the passenger window and states, “HOW do you guys find out this stuff?!”

We welcomed him to Santa Barbara and each had some memorabilia signed. Jimmy said he was meeting his editor to do some work on his new book. We asked if he had a minute for a few photo’s and pulled over and parked. We were able to get a couple of pictures and Jimmy asked if we were attending any of the upcoming shows…a couple of us are going to Vegas and all of us there are going to Anaheim. He was surprised we had tickets to Vegas…to which I replied “I won them on Margaritaville.com!”

We also gave Jimmy one of our club T-shirts…he was the FIRST person to get one!

The Tiki Gods were smiling on us today! What a cool way to kick off a week of Jimmy Buffett concerts!

Here are a couple more articles on the CIP opening. The first is from the [b:b6838fb63d]Wisconsin State Journal[/b:b6838fb63d]: “For A Night, Middleton Morphs into Margaritaville

On a typically frigid January evening, the most tropical thing at a private and pricey mini-concert here by Jimmy Buffett was the 200-plus fans. The audience, after all, went bananas.

Buffett’s nine-song, 50-minute show on a tiny stage in suburban Madison’s Greenway Station served two purposes: It raised about $55,000 for Habitat for Humanity of Dane County and it promoted the new Cheeseburger in Paradise restaurant, a chain co-owned by Buffett’s Margaritaville Holdings.

The second is from the [b:b6838fb63d]Capital Times[/b:b6838fb63d] “Buffett Fans in Paradise at Show Here“:

Parrotheads were cheeseheads, and cheeseheads were parrotheads, as Jimmy Buffett made a rare winter appearance in Wisconsin at the new Buffett-connected Cheeseburger in Paradise restaurant at Greenway Station.
