The article includes the Top Ten Reasons why Buffett is still kicking ass!

It’s just over 2 weeks until the Fenway shows but the Boston Herald has already rolled out the red carpet for Jimmy. They have a revolving billboard over their building on the Southeast Expressway. One of the panels shows a sillouette of a head wearing a parrot head hat with a quote in large letters saying “We’re growing older but not up!” The bottom of the billboard says “Welcome to Boston Jimmy Buffett!”

Kinda makes being stuck in traffic a little more tolerable!

Thanks,

JIMMY BUFFETT’S LICENSE TO CHILL EARNS PLATINUM CERTIFICATION

Nashville, TN – Jimmy Buffett has had a lot to celebrate lately. His RCA Records Nashville album, License To Chill, which debuted at #1, has spent the five weeks since its release at the top of the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart, and has been the top seller at Amazon for the same time period. His debut single from the project, “Hey Good Lookin’,” was a Top 10 country hit. And now License to Chill has been certified Platinum by the RIAA.

Rolling Stone recently featured Buffett in its September 2 issue. The piece looks at his beginnings in Nashville, as well as the exciting recording sessions at his studio in Key West, and the impetus for making License to Chill.

The new single from the album, “Trip Around The Sun,” arrived at radio stations last week and is already the highest debut on both the Billboard (Hot Shot @ #45) and R&R (#40) charts. The song features guest vocals by the reigning CMA and ACM Female Vocalist Martina McBride.

USA Today has an article on the fund-raiser for Kerry:
Kerry raises $2 million for Democrats

Talk of politics and war gave way to music, and Kerry joined the band and played guitar as Buffett sang “Brown Eyed Girl.”

“A guitar-playing president. I like that,” Buffett said.

The Chicago Sun Times had this article on Mac McAnally.

Hello fellow Parrotheads! Just got back from the amazing performance by Jimmy buffett in East Hampton. It rained very hard but the show went on. I was lucky enough to get into the show for free with my mom. My friend is a volunteer for the Democratic Convention. Jimmy even had some members of the Coral Reefers there with him, on guitar Peter Mayer, on bass Jim Mayer, Michael Utley, Roger Guth and a new Referette.
Jimmy sounded so good tonight, the acoustics was amazing! I was dead center, 1st row about 3 feet away, couldn’t have asked for anything more. I took lots of pictures and will post them as soon as I put then on cd. Here’s tonights setlist:

1. Changes in Latitudes
2. License to Chill
3. Volcano
4. Come Monday
5. Pascagoula Run
6. Son of a Son of a Sailor
7. Hey Good Lookin’
8. A Pirate Looks at 40
9. Southern Cross
10. Brown Eyed Girl (with John Kerry on Acoustic guitar!) Jimmy said he has a job on guitar anytime.
11. Margaritaville

Fins was on the setlist, but Mr. Kerry made a long speech befor Brown Eyed Girl and I guess they decided to skip that one. Also, there were no fellow Parrotheads there, My Mom & I were the only true Parrotheads there.
I had a fun time, the show was a more rock and roll fell without all the big production of the full tours, Peter Mayer is a great guitarist. Jimmy and the Coral Reefers had a great tight band this evening.

The Hey Good Lookin video has moved up 4 spots to #10 on CMT’s Top Twenty Countdown.

Wonder if a video is in the works for the 2nd single, Trip Around The Sun, to help promote LTC?
