This past Saturday (Oct. 16) was the grand opening of the new Cheeseburger in Paradise Restaurant in Myrtle Beach, SC. The enitre evening was a fundraiser for the Grand Strand Humane Society and $20, 916.00 was raised for them via cover charges and live auctions. The highlight of the evening was one patron winning a package consisting of 2 tickets to a 2005 Buffett concert, hotel, airfare and limo service….the winning bid was $2700.00!

The Rum Punch Bandits were the evening’s entertainment and were delighted to be a part of such a great evening. Pictures will be posted on their website soon at www.RumPunchBandits.com.

Between 14 and 16 CIP’s are planned for the Carolinas with the next few coming in Asheville (January ’05), Greenville, SC and Charlotte.

From the Publisher: Jimmy Buffett’s new book “A Salty Piece of Land” will be released 12/01/04, but that will not cover the backorders that we have. There will probably be a few more printings after that which has not shown up in our system yet. You can certainly feel free to check on the book reprint dates before or after 12/01/04.

Our PH club received this today from the City of Jacksonville —

WHEREAS: People have been drawn to the music of Jimmy Buffett for many years. And his fans banded together in 1989 to form Parrot Heads in Paradise, Inc. The group chose “Party with a Purpose” as a motto to depict their love of Buffett’s music and a desire to make a positive impact on the world; and

WHEREAS: The Parrot Heads have supported environmental and charitable causes for many years. For example, in 2003, the group raised more then $1.6 million for local and national charities and contributed 365,068 man-hours in supporting them. And on a national level, the Parrot Heads contribute to the Alzheimers Associaition, Americare’s Foundation, Artificial Reefs of the Keys, CL Foundation for SIDS, Dolphin Research Center, Tommorows Childrens Fund, Welsley House and the Cancer Foundation; and

WHEREAS: Jimmy Buffett is the Chairman of the Save the Manatee Club, which he established in 1981 with Florida Governor Bob Graham. Buffett also founded Friends of Florida, an environmental group focused on preserving the Florida Ecostructure. And Buffett’s Singing for Change program has nationwide focus and provides grants that are concerned with the health, education, and protection of children and their families; and

WHEREAS: Locally, the Beaches A1A Parrot Head Club participates in the Adopt-A-Highway program and the annual Polar Parrot Plunge which raises money for the Sea Turtle Patrol. They also support the Alzheimers Association, Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry, and Planet Gumbo, which provides hope and sustenance to those in need.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOHN PEYTON, by virtue of the power vested in me as Mayor of Jacksonville, Florida do hereby proclaim December 11th, 2004, and all second Saturdays in December henceforth, as

JIMMY BUFFETT DAY

and urge citizens to join me in recognizing the Parrot Heads for the positive difference they are making in the country and community.

The USA Today website has an article on concert sales for the summer. Jimmy Buffett is on the top of the sell-out list, 100% of the shows were sold out with and average attendance of 26,702 per show.

I just got word that Bubba will guest with the Dave Matthews Band on 10-8-04 on the Vote For Change tour, in Gainesville, Florida.

Bubba is expected to play ‘ A Pirate Looks at 40′ with DMB, and Ben Harper.

Just confirmed this with my DMB people…just wanted to let you know.
