Jimmy Buffett will give a special New Orleans performance next month, at which he’ll read excerpts from his forthcoming novel, perform a short set with his “beach band” and take questions from the audience.

The show, scheduled for Dec. 8 at the Mahalia Jackson Theatre of the Performing Arts. Tickets for the New Orleans performance, dubbed “A Coastal Confession,” hit the market on Saturday (11/13), according to Ticketmaster.

ONLY the person who ordered the tickets will be able to pick up the tickets and MUST present the credit card that was used to purchase the tickets along with a Photo I.D. Once your tickets are picked up you must immedialy enter the venue. Tickets will not be distributed to anyone not followiong these policies.

The Theatre of Performing Arts is located in New Orleans, LA. Sales to this event will be restricted to residents of Louisiana, Mississippi, S. Alabama, and the panhandle of Florida. Residency will be based on credit card billing address. Orders by residents outside of this area will be canceled without notice and refunds given.

I just saw a proof copy of the January 2005 Men’s Journal magazine. Jimmy poses on the cover with a beach background holding a surfboard with the caption “Jimmy Buffett: The Original Pirate of the Caribbean”. It should be available within a month or so on newsstands.

On the Monday, Nov. 9 episode of Jeopardy, there was a question about Jimmy Buffett under the category “Champagne Music.”

Answer: In a tropical tune by this singer, a water shortage at the Gull Reef Club means “Champagne Si, Aqua No.”

None of the contestants, including Ken Jennings, who has won a Jeopardy record 70-plus straight episodes and pocketed a game show record 2.3-million plus dollars, attempted a guess of the question: Jimmy Buffett.

The Alan Jackson/Jimmy Buffett hit “It’s Five O’clock Somewhere” was named ASCAP Country Song of the Year at the annual gala.

“It’s Five O’clock Somewhere,” penned by ASCAP’s Jim “Moose” Brown and BMI’s Don Rollins, was named ASCAP Country Song of the Year. The tune spent eight weeks at No. 1 on Hot Country Singles & Tracks. In addition to his songwriting, Brown is an accomplished session keyboard player who has worked with Darryl Worley, Hank Williams Jr., Trick Pony, Chely Wright and Phil Vassar.
