From Dan: The Pennsylvania House of Representatives earlier today passed House Resolution 325, by a vote of 198-0, designating June 26 as “Jimmy Buffett Day” in Pennsylvania. Those of us going to see him in August in Philadelphia think this resolution should have been amended to include those dates as well. The prime sponsor of the resolution, Representative Tim Solobay (D-Washington), may well be going to see
him this Sunday in Pittsburgh.
Hats off to the Parrotheads in Paradise clubs that are recognized in this House Resolution.

The Boston Globe has a review of Monday’s show (by Steve Morse):
“Fun-loving Buffett throws fans a few curves at Tweeter Center”
[quote:570ee4d582]Buffett is preparing a DVD of the Fenway shows to release for Christmas — and he said before last night’s gig that he was approached to play Fenway again this year, but opted to play in ballparks in Chicago, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh.[/quote:570ee4d582]
The Boston Herald also has a review of the show: “All’s well in Margaritaville“

Missing Artwork Taken From Lucy Buffett’s Coastal Alabama Restaurant
http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/050620/clm059.html?.v=14
It’s an original piece of artwork, a gift given to Lucy Buffett at her South Alabama restaurant’s 2004 grand opening. Today, the one-of-a-kind oil painting has disappeared, first reported missing June 17, 2005. “It’s not a Rembrandt or a Picasso,” says Buffett, “It’s a fun little folk painting. I just wish it would come home.”

USA Today has an article “Why it’s tough to get a ticket”
http://www.usatoday.com/life/music/news/2005-06-16-tickets-main_x.htm
[quote:a502394b3b]Most musicians concede there’s little to stop scalpers. “Scalping has been around forever,” says Jimmy Buffett. Front-row tickets to Buffett’s show Sept. 4 at Chicago’s Wrigley Field are being offered by online scalpers for $1,560.
“I don’t have any answer to it,” Buffett says. “I’m doing less dates, and there are fewer tickets, and that’s the problem. It’s the law of supply and demand. If people didn’t want to sit there, it wouldn’t be happening.” [/quote:a502394b3b]

Buffett said he’d appear on his show and he’s not afraid of him anymore. Stern said that Jimmy is a smart guy because he realizes that this is the future and he would love to have him on as a guest. Stern said that it’s great for fans and great for a guy like Jimmy Buffett who can play any music he wants to with out restrictions or play lists. An interesting article on Ukulele phenom Jake Shimabukuro
http://starbulletin.com/2005/06/13/features/story2.html
Buffett sings high praises for uke star joining tour
I can’t wait until when Jake walks out onstage and sees 26,000 screaming people,” Buffett says from Toronto, where he performs tonight.
For the upcoming concerts, Buffett and the Coral Reefers are reworking a Dave Matthews’ song for Shimabukuro to join in.
We’ll feature Jake on a couple songs with the acoustic section, some ensemble stuff with the entire band, then a duet with percussionist Ralph MacDonald,” Buffett said.
Buffett returns to Hawaii in October to finalize plans for his One Particular Harbor restaurant in Waikiki and is considering a concert “in a small Maui venue.”
Plus, “Maybe when Jake goes back to Japan to perform he’ll let me open for him there,” Buffett said. “I would love that.”

For the final encore of last nights show at the Nissan Pavilion JB played a cover of the Dave Matthews Band’s song Tripping Billies.
What did everyone think? I thought it rocked, good song to cover, and it came out awesome.
