Did anyone read the review of Thursday’s show in the Inquirer? It was written by Dan DeLuca, who had hardly a positive word to say. Since it was the first concert at CBP I would have thought that they (the Inquirer) would have taken it more seriously and sent a better writer to cover it. DeLuca spends most of the article belittling JB’s songwriting and set list, saying that a salvation was when JB covered Bruce. There was no mention of the Jack Johnson cover, which, I feel suggests that his knowledge of the topic which he is supposed to be an expert is limited to Top 40 over-produced music. He even complained about the phan next to him who sang along with “Cheeseburger”, and who was attending his 57th JB show. Reviews are supposed to be critical examinations, however, one should review with an open mind. From the sound of the article, DeLuca had the article written before he went.
Thankfully, I don’t need someone else to tell me what I like. DeLuca’s writing just reinforces my belief that the Philadelphia Inquirer is a sub-par piece of journalism.
Here’s the article if anyone hasn’t read it. You may have to sign up for some free membership to read it.

I just got back from the Jack Johnson concert in Chicago and for the last song Jack said, “I play this song a lot at my shows but this time I figured I’d get the guy who wrote it to help me sing!” Sure enough out comes Jimmy to do “A Pirate Looks at Forty“. Clearly he is spending the whole week here. Really got me pumped for this weekend’s show and a great surprise. Also my first Jack Johnson show which exceeded my expectations even before Jimmy showed up.

I know there have been several threads about concerts yet to be announced…but I just noticed [b:2de0cb4981]Portland, OR [/b:2de0cb4981]and [b:2de0cb4981]San Diego, CA [/b:2de0cb4981]listed after Chicago and before Las Vegas on the “Ports of Call” shirt I bought last evening in Philly. I did buy the shirt in the stadium, so it is at least official merchandise. Of course, no dates are noted.

www.tickets.com The Cubs Ticketing site has released more tickets for Sunday’s show. I got two seats in section C row 19 for face value. Not sure how long there will be good seats, but it’s worth checking out.

The Philadelphia Inquirer has an article “Stoked about the mellow”
http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/news/magazine/daily/12489071.htm
[i:10c6aeee9c]Buffett made multiple references to his salad days at the Main Point in Bryn Mawr, and thanked friends for driving in from the Jersey Shore. And he urged his ardent devotees, during a ragged cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “Glory Days” followed by an impressive fireworks display, to shout loud enough that the Boss could hear them in Jersey. He just might have. [/i:10c6aeee9c]
