November 22nd, 2005 9:31 pm       13 Comments »

I received this note from Mr. Buffett and wanted to pass it along to all of
you… I wanted to add my thanks to all who braved the storm and made it down to Key West for Conky Tonkin’ in Key West…

We’ll be revving up registration for next years MOTM in mid January…

Thanks all,

Alex

Dear Alex,

I just wanted to take a second and thank you and all who attended MOTM this year and for trying to put a little reason into hurricane season. I too was dealing with family and hurricanes and was unable to make it down as I had intended but the spirit of what you folks do was felt by all our folks down there. The mess didn’t seem to matter as the spirit of fun won out over the damage, at least for a few days. Hope to see you down the road at MOTM in the future

Calling All Parrotheads……………..

November 22nd, 2005 11:59 am       6 Comments »

I have some cool news, at least I think so. If you are not familiar with Jimmy Johnson or even if you are check out this link.
http://www.arloandjanis.com/

Read the entries starting 11-21-06

After reading these I sent Jimmy an email hoping to convince him to include one of the many strips he’s done mentioning Jimmy Buffett. I told him that parrotheads are very giving people and I was sure that if added one of these it would garner the largest bid.

I suggested he might add the strip where Jimmy actually appears in Arlos daydream playing his guitar on a sail Boat.

Less then 5 min later he replied to my email and told me he thought it would be a good idea except that the strip in question now resides at the Margaritaville in Key West. But he was including a strip with a “Tiki” motif
and even though it doesn’t reference JB directly I told him I would post news about the Charity Auction on the Buffett bulletin boards I know of.

He came right back with another reply and said I had given him a great idea, He wrote his friend Carson Cooper at Radio Margaritaville, asking for a plug and that if he does he will definitely add a Buffett strip to the auction.

Keep your fins crossed

From Dave: There’s a sign outside the Chi-Chi’s on Hall Road in Sterling Heights, MI (near Utica) saying that it will become a Cheeseburger in Paradise.

From the New York Daily News:
[i:ac6e068502]
It was supposed to be a fund-raiser for the American Museum of Natural History. But a new exhibit on Charles Darwin caused the Wednesday evening gala to evolve into something of a rally against President Bush’s preferred theory of intelligent design.

“This is a time when those of us who care about science and Darwin have to take a stand,” museum patron Tom Brokaw told the black-tied and bejeweled species, including Caroline Kennedy, Princess Firyal of Jordan, Viacom big shot Tom Freston, Michael Eisner, Eva Longoria, [b:ac6e068502]Jimmy Buffett[/b:ac6e068502], Jonathan Demme, Nora Ephron, Brian Williams, Lorne Michaels and most of the “Saturday Night Live” cast.
