From today’s Boston Globe: [b:9b5a69d60f]Buffett had Harvard crowd on a string[/b:9b5a69d60f]
Folks who showed up at Harvard yesterday to hear Jimmy Buffett talk about the role of celebrities in government came this close to being serenaded by Mr. Margaritaville. When a Parrothead in the audience handed Buffett a children’s guitar and requested that he play a tune, Buffett tried to oblige. But when the songwriter — who’d been invited to speak by his friend and fellow Floridian former US Senator Bob Graham — was tuning the tiny guitar, a string snapped. Oh well. By the way, Buffett’s new CD and DVD, ”Live at Fenway,” is out now.

Jimmy Johnson who does “Arlo and Janis” talks about his friend who works at the Key West Margaritaville. He mentions how Hurricane Wilma affected the Keys and how the “Buffett conglomerate” has treated the employees.
http://www.arloandjanis.com/default.htm#1116
“Where were we? My friend Mel (as in “Melissa”) lives in Key West and works at Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville. Mel has been in touch since Hurricane Wilma roughed up south Florida, and the Keys apparently were damaged more than you’d have discerned watching the TV reports.
Mel’s own household had a foot of water in it–not unlike my own during Katrina–while her neighbors, whose houses sat a bit lower, suffered truly destructive flooding. This was common on the island, she says; almost all the homes of her co-workers at Margaritaville were similarly afflicted. The Key West store remains open, however, and the New Orleans store has reopened since Katrina. I don’t know any specifics, but Mel says the Buffett conglomerate has been very good to its employees.”

From the Boston Globe: Jimmy Buffett paid a visit to the ballpark on Yawkey Way yesterday to mark the release of his new CD and DVD, ”Live at Fenway Park,” recorded in 2004. Standing on the right-field roof, the principal Parrothead was asked if he might consider becoming the Bosox GM. Maybe, said Buffett, but only if the team moves to St. Bart’s and plays exclusively day games. Today, Buffett’s at Harvard’s Institute of Politics to talk to a class taught by his old friend, former Florida Senator Bob Graham.

TIME FOR SOME CHANGES IN LATITUDE AND CHANGES IN ATTITUDE!
Annoucing the 1st Annual “Cruisin’ with A1A” benefiting the Crohns & Colitis Foundation. ** http://www.kingscruise.com/A1A.html **
It is a Carnival Parrothead cruise leaving out of Ft. Lauderdale on April 16th 2006 for a 5-day adventure touching into the ports of Key West (where we will fill our tin cup many times at Margaritaville), Cozumel (where they sure dont dance like Carmen at Carlos & Charlies ), and Roatan, Honderus (where can drink and tan until we see stars on the water?)
As most of us are familiar, A1A is the official and original Jimmy Buffett tribute band. In 1991 Jeff formed A1A and in 1992 after winning a Jimmy Buffett Sound Alike Contest for Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Records, Jeff Pike and A1A became The Official and Original Jimmy Buffett Tribute Show, now internationally renowned. They will be performing exclusive shows just for our Parrothead group in the concert theatre on the ship. Exclusive passes and t-shirts are included.
