Jimmy’s name came up in Matt Lauer’s conversation about Billy Joel starting a new tour, his first in several years and here’s a snippet of that conversation courtesy of NBC:
“Lauer: You know Jimmy Buffett pretty well.
Joel: Yeah.
Lauer: He kids with me sometimes. He says, “You know what? Whenever somebody comes up to me and says, “Play Cheeseburger in Paradise,” I cringe on the one side. But these are the fans on the other side. They want to hear it. What’s your “Cheeseburger in Paradise” song …
Joel: Probably …
Lauer: … when somebody comes up?
Joel: … “Just the Way You Are.”
Anyway…I thought it was pretty interesting. Ya’ll have a very Merry Chirstmas.

This morning on south Florida rock station, Big 105.9, Jimmy phoned in at the request of a friend to participate in the station’s “Who Do You Know Thats Famous?” contest. The DJ’s, Paul Castronovo and Ron Brewer, ask their listeners to have someone they know personally, who is famous in some way, to call in. They then decide as the calls come in, who is more famous. The Donald, who had called in earlier this morning (and was the winner so far),was immediatly put down by the dj-judges when they realized they were now speaking with The Jimmy! He chatted with them on the air for several minutes, about various subjects. He explained that he was on his way to the airport this morning, heading for Hollywood to work on the Hoot production, and briefly described his role as producer and marine biology teacher…he said he’ll be working on new tour dates on the flight out, and tour dates for April should be on the Margaritaville.com website soon. He also discussed his books, fishing, the new Cheeseburger in Paradise in Plantation, FL and the benefit show he performed there… The contest continues for a few more days on the radio station’s morning show, and hopefully Jimmy can hold on to the top spot!

Looks like the head parrot has changed his mind about trailers, if New York Magazine, in its Dec 19th issue is to be believed:
THE MOBILE MONTAUK VACATION HOME (Hamptons backup)
There’s no such thing as trailer trash on the East End. At least not when [b:dcf13c9d9a]Jimmy Buffett [/b:dcf13c9d9a] is getting in bidding wars over $430,000 beachfront mobile homes. The manufactured dwelling of his dreams is located in a trailer park near Ditch Plains in Montauk, right down the road from an enclave Sanford White-designed mansions.
High end caterer Janet O’Brien won out over Buffett, even though he offered $30.000 more; the owner decided to go with O’Brien because she’d called about the property first.
“It overlooks the break right there!” raves O’Brien, who, like Buffett, surfs. She’ll rent it out when she’s not riding waves. “Its the latest trend, living in the Hamptons and having your second home in Montauk,” she says. “Honestly, its waterfront! Its a good investment. I didnt even look inside it before i bought it.”
