More information on the soundtrack is available in a press release from New Line Cinema: "Hoot" Soundtrack to Feature Five Newly Recorded Songs by Jimmy Buffett
Hoot," from New Line Cinema, the film adaptation of Florida author Carl Hiaasen’s Newbery award-winning novel, opens nationwide April 21. The official motion picture soundtrack will be released on April 18 on Jimmy Buffett’s Mailboat Records. It will feature five newly recorded songs by Buffett, including a duet with Alan Jackson of the classic hit, "Barefootin’," and some great covers: Warren Zevon’s "Werewolves Of London" and Bruce Cockburn’s "Wondering Where The Lions Are," a new reggae version of his own "Floridays" and the original song "Good Guys Win," written especially for the movie by long-time Buffett songwriting partners, Coral Reefers Mac McAnally and Roger Guth.
The legendary Toots and the Maytals appear, as do Grammy-nominated Maroon 5 performing a cover of Bill Withers’ "Lovely Day" with the soulful songwriter on background vocals. G. Love adds hip hop blues to this eclectic collection, and Brie Larson, who stars as Beatrice in the movie, contributes a catchy pop tune written specifically for the film called "Coming Around." The soundtrack also features Ry Cuming, a young Australian artist who was discovered while surfing the breaks of Costa Rica, and a previously recorded track from Mofro — a great new "front porch soul" band from Northern Florida. Coral Reefer band members are featured on the movie’s score as are slide guitarist extraordinaire Sonny Landreth and ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro. An enhanced video portion will be included with footage of Jimmy and the owls.

Six restaurant concepts have been selected by Nation’s Restaurant News as its 2006 Hot Concepts! by the editors of NRN. Among the winners: Cheeseburger in Paradise.
Cheeseburger in Paradise was founded in August 2002 and now is owned by Outback Steakhouse, under a license from singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett. The “island fantasy” concept features colorful cocktails and live music as well as Key West-style architecture and decor that offer customers an escape from the daily grind. Topping the chain’s menu are its signature hamburgers and other traditional, American favorites prepared with a Caribbean flair. There are currently 29 Cheeseburger in Paradise locations, and another 20 are scheduled to open by year-end.

Last night at La Plage on St. Barts, Jimmy borrowed a guitar and, with two other "borrowed" musicians, played an impromtu set that included Autour Du Roche. The word did NOT get out where he was going to be and for once did not play to a packed house. No, he did not charge anything. You want the "Buffett experience"? Remember his song lyrics.."follow in my wake, you’ve not that much at stake, for I have plowed the seas and smoothed the troubled waters". He means stop idolizing him and start living. Try travelling to some ports that he visits regularly. Get off the beaten path and you just may run into the man, not the star. See you on the "rock".
