The Orlando Sentinel has an interview with Jimmy and Carl Hiaasen: "Giving a Hoot" (Environmental champions Jimmy Buffett and Carl Hiaasen hope their movie about a tiny owl will make a big impression on kids).

"You remember how it used to be," Buffett says, "and what parts are still here worth saving, and you realize, ‘Well, I may not change the guy with the bulldozer’s mind. But I can get to his kid.’ "

With a career in broadcasting as long as Jimmy Buffett’s career in music, Don Imus has entertained and confounded talk radio listeners throughout the nation. And like Jimmy Buffett, Don Imus understands the importance of charitable giving. Since 1990, Imus has headlined a Radiothon on New York radio station WFAN, and has raised over $50 million, to benefit the Tomorrows Children’s Fund, the CJ Foundation for SIDS, and the Imus Ranch, which operates for kids with cancer and the siblings of SIDS victims. He was also instrumental in the completion of the Don Imus/WFAN Pediatric Center for Tomorrows Children at Hackensack University Medical Center.

Although Hurricane Wilma tried to cancel our convention, Parrot Heads persevered, and Meeting of the Minds 2005 will be able to donate $18,500 for the SIDS charity. For the fourth year in a row, PHIP will present our donation during Imus’ Radiothon. Alex Leist, PHIP Vice President and Director of Conventions will be a guest on the show. Mark your calendars and make an appointment to tune in on Friday, May 5 from 9:30 to 10:00 AM. They will be on MSNBC, WFAN and simulcast on the Internet at www.wfan.com

President, Parrot Heads in Paradise, Inc.
