The Tennessean has an article: "Songwriters honor their own stars"
Buffett’s FM radio standards include "Margaritaville" and "Come Monday," but lately he has been a presence in country music circles. His last two albums have debuted at the top spot on Billboard magazine’s country album chart. On Sunday night, duo Big & Rich joined Marshall Chapman, Buzz Cason and Don Light in honoring Buffett.
Buffett got up after the speech and musical tribute, by which time Light, his old friend and agent, had already put his honor into perspective: "This is not the last Hall of Fame into which he will be inducted, but I think it’s really appropriate that it’s the first."
For his part, Buffett offered good humor along with appreciation. After Big & Rich sang "Margaritaville," Buffett joked, "Hugh Prestwood gets Trisha Yearwood and I get these clowns." Later Buffett said, "I never got in it to become big and rich, but, what the . . . , it happened."

TAKE THE WEATHER WITH YOU IS SECOND CONSECUTIVE #1 COUNTRY DEBUT FOR JIMMY BUFFETT
Nashville , TN - Multi-platinum singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett scores his second consecutive #1 debut album on the Billboard Country Chart with the release of Take The Weather With You, on Mailboat Records/RCA Nashville. Take The Weather With You is the follow-up to his career first #1 debut album (on both the Top 200 and Country Chart), License To Chill, which featured duets with some of country’s biggest stars including Alan Jackson, George Strait, Kenny Chesney, Martina McBride and others. Selling over 120,000 copies in its first week, Take The Weather With You also debuted at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart.
Take The Weather With You combines a variety of styles and sounds throughout the album from Nashville , New Orleans and Key West . After recording more than forty records, the two-time Grammy nominated singer/songwriter returns again to his country foundation with breezy ballads, interpretations of alt-country songs, a version of Merle Haggard’s "Silver Wings" and mariachi horns in "Cinco De Mayo In Memphis."
The album also includes the current single, “Bama Breeze,” a tribute to the historic bars along the Gulf Coast as well as a take on Mary Gauthier’s "Wheel Inside The Wheel" with swampy rhythms crafted by Lafayette , Louisiana slide guitarist Sonny Landreth. Deeply affected by Hurricane Katrina, Buffett takes a philosophical look at the devastation of New Orleans in the ballad “Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On,” which he wrote with former drummer Matt Betton.

From the Philadelphia Daily News
It’s official. Jimmy Buffett is a country singer. So proclaims the latest issue of Vanity Fair, which slots J.B. in a super-lavish country hipster photo spread. Yet the restless Buffett continues to mix and mangle North American and south-of-the-border styles his way, on the balmy, breezy "Take the Weather With You" (Mailboat/RCA, B). Standouts include "Cinco De Mayo in Memphis," "Elvis Presley Blues" and the marimba-flavored killa, "Party at the End of the World."
