From The Record in the "Idol Gossip" column: "Wastin’ away with Buffett"

Here’s one that’ll have the Parrotheads flapping their wings. The announcement hasn’t officially been made, but it appears to be a done deal: Jimmy Buffett and his Coral Reefer Band will play Boardwalk Hall on June 29 in his long-awaited Atlantic City debut. Harrah’s Entertainment Inc. will present the show. Over the years, the free spirited singer and song-writer with a fanatical following has resisted all attempts to lure him to Atlantic City. Buffett, whose iconic 1977 hit "Margaritaville" has become an anthem of summer, had previously turned down opportunities to headline massive beach concerts and wouldn’t bite even when offered six-figure paychecks.

Margaritaville Cozumel is the largest Margaritaville in Mexico. It will open on Saturday morning, March 31st and will be the 13th Margaritaville. It has 500 seats and sits directly on the Caribbean Sea . It has a tiki bar on the waters edge and a second floor view. At night you can see the lights of Playa del Carmen. During the day the cruise ships sit a few hundred yards away and dwarfs everything in view.

Also Air Margaritaville will be in the new terminal at the Cancun Airport. It sits in the center of the gate area and is the center piece of the new airport mall. They hope to open by mid May.

The Sun Chronicle has an article: "Margaritaville opens a little later"

Jimmy Buffett fans expecting to tailgate to his Gillette Stadium debut concerts in the morning won’t be welcome in Margaritaville.

The Gillette parking lots won’t open until 3:30 p.m., four hours before showtime, selectmen said Tuesday night.

Selectmen voted to license the two sold-out shows, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, and Saturday, Sept. 8.

From SI.com: Jimmy chooses FLORIDA

"In a completely unbiased view, I pick Florida. Why? Coach Billy Donovan is a parrothead and that team didn’t all come back for a year just so that they could hang out together at the Steak n Shake in Gainesville."

There’s an article in the St. Maarten Daily Herald on Monday on the Anguilla show: "Hundreds attended Jimmy Buffett show" page 1 and page 2 (thanks to murPH and gregb)

ANGUILLA – Described as the “ultimate Jimmy Buffett location” by many fans, the concert at The Dunes Preserve last Saturday was a great success. The large crowd in attendance would indicate that the nearly 4,000 ticket purchasers were there having arrived by ferries from St. Martin to Blowing Point. Many traveled on private yachts, large and small, and some on private jets into Wallblake Airport. It was the largest international concert held in Anguilla with the majority of the audience coming from overseas.

The show included songs by Bankie Banx, who organized the event, but mostly it was Jimmy Buffett all the way with his Coral Reefer Band and his back-up singers.

His many parrot heads were there in colourful outfits and appreciative of the Caribbean setting, the palm trees and amazing atmosphere at the Dune that was perfect for Buffet’s music.

A young man from Hawaii played the ukulele with the steel pan player and was very well received by the audience.

The large crowd was well behaved and some even climbed into the trees in an effort to see and hear all that was taking place. A long time fan of Buffett was heard remarking that this was the “best concert ever” and he had attended nearly all during the last 20 years.

The Jamaica Dogsled Team Documentary "Sun Dogs" will premiere at Canada’s ReelWorld Film Festival on April 12, 2007.

More infomation is available in the press release: The SUN DOGS story began when Jamaican Danny Melville, Chairman and CEO of Chukka Caribbean Adventures, saw a unique sled that was designed for dry-land sleddog racing and thought it would be a great idea for Jamaica. Melville put together a team of dogs — many of them strays from the Jamaica Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (JSPCA) — convinced Devon Anderson, the Director of Operations for Chukka who has a way with animals, to be a musher and brought singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett and the popular Margaritaville chain on board as a sponsor — Buffett is the team’s "godfather" and namesake to one of the lead dogs.

Ralph MacDonald is a three-time winning Grammy award winning artist. We feature an entire show of Ralph MacDonald’s music and also music he played on…from Billy Joel to Art Garfunkel to Jimmy Buffett.

Ralph MacDonald is also the percussion player for Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band, and also Club Trini. You get to hear it all, as well as some fascinating stories from Ralph about starting out in Harry Belafonte’s band as a kid, his latest album, taking Jimmy Buffett to the panyard in Trinidad (as mentioned in Buffett’s autobiography A Pirate Looks at Fifty), and his current hobby of photography, what he does on tour when he’s not performing and some of the songs he wrote with/for Buffett, and more.

The set list from the shows in Aguilla is now available (thanks to Rusty for passing it along to us). Jimmy did a surprise acoustic show on Friday at 11:00 AM and a full show on Saturday night. The shows were recorded for a release that will be available on DVD.

From Rusty: We went for a walk on the beach (on Friday) and as we were coming back a crowd was forming at the place where the gig was taking place tomorrow night. Went over found Charleston and he said they were going to come out and play a bit. They were setting up on the beach for the DVD that they are shooting and Charleston put people where he wanted them. We were 5 feet from Jimmy sitting in the sand. He explained they were doing a DVD and it occured to him that he would not be able to do an acoustic set with the crowd tomorrow so we’re going to do it today!

Here are some of the songs that Jimmy performed that have not been played in awhile (last time played live in parenthesis):
