Well it’s official Margaritaville is coming to Mohegan Sun Uncasville, CT. All of us here in the Northeast that have been waiting, it looks like we get a Margartaville restaurant up in New England.

There’s an article in the Boston Globe: "Margaritaville coming to Mohegan Sun" and another article in The Day.

Mohegan Sun, a casino complex in Uncasville, CT, announced in November a $740-million expansion plan; at a ground-breaking ceremony today, casino officials were expected to disclose that a Margaritaville restaurant, replete with tiki huts and a "cheeseburger in paradise" menu entree, will be part of the mix, along with a previously announced 1,000-room hotel.

Update: Some additional articles: "Sun Will Shine on Margaritaville" and "Mohegans break ground on $740M casino expansion"

With the toast Thursday, the tribe celebrated its next investment with the start of its Project Horizon expansion, as well as a partnership with singer Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville chain that will bring a 16,000-square-foot restaurant to the new Casino of the Wind in summer 2008.

Day of Silence at Radio Margaritaville

June 26th, 2007 7:17 pm       11 Comments »

From Radio Margaritaville.com: INTERNET RADIO SILENT PROTEST! - Today is the Day of Silence at Radio Margaritaville. The future of radio on the Internet is in immediate danger. Royalty rates for webcasters have been drastically — and we mean drastically — increased by a recent ruling and are due to go into effect July 15th (retroactive to January 1, 2006!) To protest these rates — and hopefully encourage you, as an Internet radio listener, to take action — we urge you to contact your Congressional representative. Sorry for the inconvenience — but silence like this will be all too common on the Internet unless something is done. Click this link for details! Thanks!

Pittsburgh Concert Review

June 25th, 2007 6:46 am       33 Comments »

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has a review of Saturday’s show "Buffett knows how to throw a good party".

As my watch struck 8 p.m., Buffett rode a bicycle on stage. He gave a Corona to one of the fans in the front row. Then he greeted the audience and played "On the Road Again," originally done by Willie Nelson. It was one of many covers Buffett performed during the night, and it was probably the best one. Willie wouldn’t have sung it any better.

Bama Breeze Tour Continues in Pittsburgh

Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band performed at the Post-Gazette Pavilion in Burgettstown, PA on Saturday night. The Set List along with comments from the show are now available. Some additions to the set list include "Stars on the Water", "It’s My Job", "Boat Drinks", "Frank And Lola" (last played 4/29/04), and "When Salome Plays The Drum".

Highlights from the pre-show interview: Savannah Jane talks with Jimmy Buffett

Paris was wonderful … it had been a dream of mine to play there for a long time … we’ve adopted some Paris-heads, they were there in full force. The show was great … about 450 people … I think they want us back too. That’s kind of in the plan to do a some little fun things along with these big show. Between Paris and Anguilla, we have a couple other things we are looking at. We’ll be back in Hawaii in October at the Shell.

For those of you who missed it (the Paris show) of course we made a video … it’s pretty darn good. We going to get some t-shirts made that say "He Finally Went to Paris".

This is one of my favorite venues (Star Lake/Post Gazette). There a little bit of history with this venue, back when we had the Iguanas open (Jimmy didn’t know when, but it was probably back in 1993). As we were walking on lighting hit the transformer and blew out the power. We hooked the generators to two buses. We had one spot light and one microphone working. I asked if anyone whated to leave and get there money back, nobody left, and the show went on.
