Jimmy Buffett called Radio Margaritaville’s program director/afternoon DJ Steve Huntington from Highway 101, near Beullton, California, while making a solo road trip to Santa Cruz, with surfboards on the roof and his bike tied to the rear of his rented white VW van, was retracing steps from his days working the clubs of the California coast.

He discussed getting a stand up paddle surfing lesson from surf god Laird Hamilton in San Onofre, playing Tinley/Chicago with Sonny Landreth who will be there for a blues festival. He talked about a trip to Hawaii in October, and a trip "Down Under" presumably to Australia, and discussed taking a video crew to the spot in Tahiti where he wrote "One Particular Harbour".

Hear a replay of the interview with Carson Cooper on Thursday 7/12 at 7am & 9am on Radio Margaritaville/SIRIUS 31, and radiomargaritaville.com.

Time Magazine has an article on Jimmy Buffett in the July 10th issue. There’s the 10 Questions along with 10 Additional Questions.

Do you think you will ever really retire? And if so, what will you do then? —David Harty in East Norriton, Penn.
There is the answer to your question. What would I do? As long as this is fun and I am healthy, it’s an amazing run. I go out for a show and I have to pinch myself. Longevity is not something you get into songwriting for. We are four decades into this and still going strong and I am just eternally grateful, so leaving it would be very hard for me. It is kind of like Joseph Campbell used to say: if you have found your bliss, it is like a great old car. You don’t want a new car, you just want to paint the bumper, change the seat cover: you just want to treat it well, not get a new car. That is how I feel about performing. Retiring is not an option for me, because what else would I do? I have plenty of time to go do the things I want to do now, but there is still something very unique about getting on the stage, that very few people get to do. And I am not quite ready to not do it.

Let There Be Fun (Part 1 of 2) on the Time After Island Time show – Produced by Paul Leslie & Jeff Pike.
We are proud to announce the Second Coming of recording artist Uncle Jim Mayer. Jim Mayer is a musician, songwriter, and member of Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer band. He asked to come back to talk about his new album, "Let There Be Fun," and we were very excited to welcome him back. You may think that "Let There Be Fun," is a kid’s album… Although children will certainly love it, these songs have messages and melodies which appeal to all music lovers. The gospel of Uncle Jim is one of optimism. You’re going to enjoy the variety of music we have picked out and our very positive conversation with Jim Mayer. This article was in the business section of the International Herald Tribune in Paris: "Spotlight: Margaritaville is Jimmy Buffett’s empire"

Is Margaritaville a city, song, café, casino, book title, brand of tequila, apparel label or radio station? Over the past 30 years, the singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett has taken the title of his biggest hit tune, from 1977, and turned it into all of the above, except for a city – at least not yet.

The Sun Herald has an article "Margaritaville takes two steps forward", that list some of the design plans and details of the new resort.

It’s the 10th Anniversary of Buffett News, originally known as the Feeding Frenzy Page. I started this website in July 1997 during the Havana Daydreamin’ Tour primarily to keep track of the set lists and the Stumpo El Bando feature that Jimmy did during the tour. In September 1997 news content was added to the site (keeps me busy on a daily basis).

Leave a message and let me know how long you’ve been following Buffett News along with your most memorable moments.

Time Magazine recently interviewed Jimmy and had fans submit "10 Questions for Jimmy Buffett".

Question: If you could work with one artist you haven’t already worked with, who would it be? [Thomas Schisler, BALTIMORE]

Jimmy: Jerry Garcia and I had always talked about doing a Parrothead-Deadhead show together. Unfortunately, we can’t do that now. I love what Jack Johnson does. He believes in what he does, and it works. I know how that feels. I would love to do a big show with Jack.

Question: After all your success, what’s left? [Chris Hildebrandt, PITTSBURGH, PA]

Jimmy: When it is all said and done, I am going to teach. There comes a point where you want to share your wisdom if you get to do the things I’ve done. Of course, if you want to see me teach, I don’t think I will be at Fargo in February. You might have to find me at the University of Hawaii.
