From Nadirah Shakoor: Well my friends I finally do have an official release date for “Nod to the Storyteller” of October 14, 2008! Who knew there would be so many little details to tend to? The art work has been the most time consuming. What do you think of the cover?

I must say that I am very proud of this particular collection of songs. Mr Buffett gave me the twinkling of the eyes smile after he listened (whew!) and I hope you all feel the same especially since you helped choose the music.

Some audio clips from album “Nod to the Storyteller” are now available:
Creola
Making Music for Money
When the War is Over” (featuring Jimmy Buffett)
Frenchman for the Night
Wonder Why You Ever Go Home
Let Him Go” (a song by Mac McAnally)

We will be celebrating the release at my Las Vegas Margaritaville show Friday October 24th, 2008 from 9pm until and of course you are all invited.

Again thank you all for showing so much Love and Support.

The New York Post has an article on fans who could not get tickets and listened to the show in the parking lot: “Pavement Party: Buffett’s Fans Land on ther Asphalt

The place to hear Jimmy Buffett spin his pirate yarn about letting the good times roll wasn’t from the seats inside the Jones Beach amphitheater Tuesday night. It was in the sprawling parking lot with his devoted followers, affectionately known as Parrotheads.

Gun & Gun Magazine has an article: “Who Do You Love - Bo Diddley saved my life one night in Africa! by Jimmy Buffett

Bo Diddley saved my life one night in Africa! Now that I have your attention, I guess I better fill in a few blanks here. I apologize for the sensationalism of the opening line, but a headline like that seems to work in these times we live in. If it sounds like I am trying to embellish a story, well, isn’t that what writers do? I readily admit to a recurrent problem of moving unpredictably between fiction and fact. But if Bo Diddley didn’t actually save my life on a trip to the land of the desert blues, then he sure as hell saved my ass. So here’s the real story…

Some photos from the show are now available (thanks to firemedic)

Went the the Stephen Talkhouse on Fridayt night, and word was that Jimmy was going to make a surprise appearance. It looked as though word had gotten out though as there were several people with Jimmy garb on. Yellowman finished up their set, and they started setting up for the next act, which was supposed to be Hot Lava, but they only set up one mike, and a small amp, and electric guitar, and an acoustic one. A few minutes go by, and who comes out but the man himself. He starts conversing with the crowd about how he has been doing nothing for the past three weeks, and on Sunday he has to go down and play Atlantic City. He proceeded to play the following set;

Piece of Work
Thank God the Tiki Bar is Open
Pencil Thin Mustache
Why Don’t we get Drunk and Screw
Volcano
Jamaica Mistaka
Brown Eyed Girl
Southern Cross
Son of a Sailor
Cheeseburger in Paradise
No Woman No Cry
Margaritaville
Fins
Reggae Billy Hill
Come Monday
Tambourine Man.

He inserted several Long Island and East End references into the songs along the way, and seemed to thoroughly enjoy himself. At one point he grabbed a womans phone and started talking to the person on the other end while up on stage.

Marketwatch has an article “One of the World’s Largest Casinos Gets Even Bigger” that mentions Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn is slated to open on September 29th.

The Mohegan Sun website says “Jimmy Buffett’s sucessfull Margaritaville Restaurant will open it’s newest tropical paradise at the Mohegan Sun this fall. With seating for 366, it is the first indoor/oudoor restaurant at the Mohegan Sun.”

The Onion features satirical articles on current events, both real and imagined. This month they take a friendly shot at Jimmy: “Darling, There’s Something I’ve Been Hiding From You—I’m Jimmy Buffett

Darling, I know we’ve been together for over 30 years, and we’ve always promised that we would never keep any secrets from each other. But I think you should brace yourself, because, well, there is one thing I haven’t been completely honest about: I’m Jimmy Buffett.

I know that for all these years you thought I was “Jimmy Buffett the boat salesman who had to travel a lot for work.” But no. I am Jimmy Buffett the multiplatinum recording artist known for such songs as “Margaritaville” and “Son Of A Son Of A Sailor.” It’s not something I’m very proud of, but it pays the bills.
