Donald Trump has done what many real estate sellers have been forced to do in this tough economy. He’s lowered the price of one of his casinos to make it more attractive to a buyer. Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc. has slashed the sale price of Trump Marina Hotel Casino from $316 million to $270 million to salvage a deal with businessman Richard T. Fields.
Fields and his New York gaming group Coastal Marina LLC plan to transform the aging Trump Marina into a “Margaritaville” casino inspired by singer Jimmy Buffett’s famous song from the 1970s. Buffett’s Margaritaville business arm will be part of the casino venture.

Nadarih Shakoor’s new cd “Nod to the Storyteller” has sold out on the Mailboat Records site (there are still copies available on Amazon.com. She plans on touring many of the Margaritaville restaurants in the Caribbean in support of the new album.
Jimmy Buffett’s new restaurant at the Beachcomber in Waikiki is expected to open early in 2009 according to the Ohana Waikiki Beachcomber. A show at the Waikiki Beach Shell in Honolulu is rumored to take place in February 2009.
It’s taking $15 million to build out 22,000 square feet for the new 400-seat Jimmy Buffett’s at the Beachcomber. And it will be every bit an adventure in paradise.
Simulated sunsets and rolling surf. The Hot Spot Bar where action will surely be volcanic. Ocean Waves Dining Booths for the North Shore vibe. You’ll enjoy music from up-and-coming local talent and food that’s not too complicated but full of flavor: fresh seafood, juicy burgers and casual island favorites. Cocktails will find tropical inspiration, too, with boat drinks, ice-cold brews and of course, signature margaritas.
Jimmy Buffett’s at the Beachcomber opens in early 2009.
From Margaritaville.com: Private party to celebrate the opening of Margaritaville Mohegan Sun. The November 8th concert is a private event – tickets will NOT be for sale, but there will be an opportunity to win passes from local radio stations as well as Radio Margaritaville.

Singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett and his Margaritaville business empire must qualify for a state casino license as part of the rebranding of Trump Marina Hotel Casino.
Buffett affiliate Margaritaville of Atlantic City LLC had requested a less stringent and less costly casino service industry license, which is typically held by vendors doing business with the casinos. But the commission has ruled that Buffett and the Margaritaville companies must go through the full licensing process, including the exhaustive background checks that are required.
On Tuesday, the multi-millionaire singer who refuses to grow up, and who inspires his fans to follow his lead, brought his endless beach party to the Shoreline Amphitheatre at Mountain View. As always, the event turned out to be more than just a concert — it was a chance for Buffett’s loyal flock of Parrotheads, most of who lead normal lives 364 days a year, to forget about their mortgages, the economy and the price of gas for one precious night of goofy revelry.
“I know it’s a Tuesday night (and) there’s a recession on,” Buffett said to the crowd. “But we’re still rocking in the free world.”
That enthusiasm is shared by the Coral Reefer Band, an outstanding 12-piece ensemble that seems to get better with every tour. Out of this group of sensational players, backing vocalist Nadirah Shakoor really seemed to shine at Shoreline.
Fans might be hearing more about this versatile singer, who came to fame in the Grammy-nominated hip-hop group Arrested Development. She’s just released a solo record, “Nod to the Storyteller,” which includes her take on seven Buffett tracks.
During the preshow interview before last night’s show in Las Vegas Jimmy Buffett mentioned he will be doing a show at the new Margaritaville at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT on Saturday November 8th.
Private party to celebrate the opening of Margaritaville Mohegan Sun
The November 8th concert is a private event – tickets will NOT be for sale, but there will be an opportunity to win passes on many local radio stations as well as Radio Margaritaville. Stay tuned for more information on how to win!

From Couganata: My friend who orginally shared the news about the possible closing of the Chart Room Bar sent me and email about her latest visit with the Capt. and his new book, failing health, and upcoming benefit.
I came from visiting with Captain Tony last night. He still has an amazingly strong spirit, but as one would expect for a 92 year-old man, his health is failing. He is very excited about a new book on his life that has just been released. It’s called “Life Lessons of a Legend” by Brad Manard, and is available at Amazon.com. He gave me a copy of the book last night. I haven’t read it yet, but it’s got some great photos and I hear it’s excellent. Captain Tony plans to have a book signing at Captain Tony’s on October 28, during Parrothead week here (Meetings of the Minds).
Also on October 30 there is supposed to be a “Share the Love for Captain Tony” fund-raising event at Rick’s bar on Duval Street. Captain Tony sold his bar years ago and gets none of the profits from it. As you can imagine, he has had extensive medical bills over the past year, and he and his family needs the support.
