Jimmy has posted a Christmas message at Margaritaville.com from Aboard the Continental Drifter III in St Barths:
Good Morning all and Merry Christmas. I am up early waiting for sunrise and the dawn patrol to my surf beach. The line that obviously comes to me now is “these days I am up about the time I used to go to bed” … There are many thoughts that could pour out of my head this morning, considering the years I have piled up here on the planet, but I will only put down one here. 62 years ago at this moment (counting the time change from St. Barth to Pascagoula), I was 2hrs and 21 minutes old. That in itself seems miraculous. I hope you have a miraculous moment today as well. Still rockin’ in the free world.

Happy Belated Birthday, Jimmy!!
Isn’t it great to celebrate another year and have people anxiously awaiting to hear about more of your concert dates?!!! I think in these troubling economic times a job isn’t something you have to worry about!! We truly love your music! This past Feb, I was in Key West, went into your store and bought your 2 CD set Meet Me in Margaritaville. My husband and I play it ALL the time. We love the remakes sooooo much. Give us more steel drums!!! Saxaphones is perfect! I bop to it on the way to work on a good day. On a bad day I shout out…”take another road to a hiding place, disappear without a trace!!..”. That becomes my form of therapy to change my mood and have a much better day. Thank you for sharing your wonderful gift of the perfect lyrics for any given situation. My husband has satellite radio in his car, so we listen to your station when we travel. We always seem to have a better time when we take you along!! The last concert we saw was in ‘07 in Camden, NJ. Since we relocated this summer, by the time we realized you’d be in Philly (we moved near Reading), it was too late to get tickets. We really could’ve used a good party with you!! And, while I have physical therapy, I’m reading Swine Not! Brilliant, Jimmy, simply brilliant!! I start to laugh out loud and other patients look to see what’s going on. Your literary genious has made even pt bearable. Enough said for now, just get those concert dates out soon, pleeeeeease!!!!!

Like you, Jimmy, I feel very blessed. I turned 56 on November 29. I accepted an exciting new job offer on December 15. I was asked to marry the man I love on December 25. At my ripe age I ride a VStar 650 Silverado which I was able to do on December 27, a rare gift considering I live in Cincinnati where the parrothead phenomena began. My life motto has always been Changes in Latitude, Changes in Attitude. Please accept my gratitude for your inspiration to live life to its fullest.

Jimmy,
What better place to spend your 62 birthday - but on the island of St Barth’s! My first visit to St. Barth’s was for the 50th anniversary show for the Select in 1999. I was back to the island in August of 2006 to celebrate my 20th wedding . You came down to St Barth’s to close on your new home and we met on St Jean beach over by Eden Rock. It was the best anniversary gift the my wife and I could have received by meeting you there!
If you play at the Select tonight - be sure to treat a very lucky audience to my favorite song “Chason Pour Les Petits Enfants.”
Happy Birthday and we wish you many, many more. Look forward to seeing next summer at Jones Beach or sooner or maybe at the Ditch.

My name may be Robin, but I am a TOTAL parrothead!
Happy Birthday Jimmy! I hope that the joy you have given others, comes back to you ten-fold! I wish you a very loooooong life and that you will be doing concerts at 100! I’ll be there!
You might enjoy knowing that my family, myself, husband and 2 sons, have been having a Jimmy Buffet party every May for the past 10 years. About 125 people come, ages 21 to 90. Many of them did not know who Jimmy Buffet was 10 years ago, but they sure do now! We serve food that all comes from your songs. From Gumbo to Cheeseburgers to Fruitcake, we serve it all up Buffet style in our garage! We have fresh shrimp and live crawfish flown in. (Not as expensive as you’d think.) It is so much fun to see 21-yr-olds and 90-yr olds enjoying your music with (weak) Jello shooters, Land Shark beer, and margaritas. Your songs have meaning for, and touch humans, of all ages; I’ve seen that first-hand. It has brought my family together - my husband likes the oldies, one son likes country and one likes rock. Me? Well, Jimmy, ITZ JUS AaaawLL GOOD, but my favorite is WHATEVER YOU’RE PLAYING.
But you could do me a big favor for my 2009 party: Do you know a recipe for Peanut Butter Conspiracy?
Robin
