The Associated Press has an artcile on Buffett’s expanding business empire: “No wasting away in Margaritaville: Jimmy Buffett gets bigger, more diversified with age”
Buffett, who turned 62 on Christmas Day, long ago became an icon of certain baby boomers — perhaps the least-hip demographic in the country — by offering the dream of throwing off their responsibilities for his tropical party vibe.
But in the past decade, this chronicler of Margaritaville has really cashed in on his image.
How big is Buffett? With an estimated annual income of more than $40 million, you might mistake his portfolio for that of Warren Buffett (not a relative). And he’s done it by sailing beyond most musicians’ ticket, T-shirt and poster revenue stream.

You deserve every penny, Jimmy. You have worked hard, are generous, kept a firm hand on finances, surrounded yourself with smart people and for 35 years I have watched you sing and play your heart out for your phans. Thanks for everything and you have every good reason to enjoy your wealth.

“There is no free ride” Jimmy has worked hard for over 36 years to get to where he is today. When my husband was a young Navy officer, stationed at KW Naval Air Station, we would go down to hear this young man named Jimmy Buffett sing his heart out. We have followed his career and attended at least two concerts a year for all this time. Now my grandchildren are enjoying the island music playing while they are in the pool. You go Jimmy….do it for the rest of us…..You have given us so much musical pleasure over the years!
