This time Jimmy writes about his adventures on Ocracoke Island in North Carolina.

Maybe the thing that had attracted me here in the first place, other than the unusual name, was the fact that Ocracoke’s history was significantly effected by two things that have always interested me very much - lighthouses and pirates, which meant I was on a “research expedition”. …

The loading area was situated next to one of those great old Coast Guard bases that had been turned into a school. I do love the designs of all the old Coast Guard stations and one day, somewhere on some stretch of protected water; plan to build myself a boat house based on one of those original designs …

It is a new year and hopefully a new era being ushered in. My next trip is to the Pacific in February, where I plan to do this all over again, on another island on another latitude. I will give you a clue - Aloha. Farewell Outer Banks. It’s been a lovely cruise.

Upcoming for Jimmy Buffett is a new live acoustic CD which will be comprised of the intimate final encore songs he does at the end of each show, sometimes alone, sometimes with Coral Reefer Mac McAnally. It will be a unique collection unlike anything he has released before.

From Newsobserver.com: Trying to reason with Jimmy Buffett season - On the Beat’s David Menconi revealed that the perennial beach bum will perform at the Music Pavilion at Walnut Creek on April 23. Tickets for the performance will go on sale Jan. 31.

Also Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band will play at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Charlotte NC on April 21 as part of the Summerzcool Tour 2009. Tickets go on sale on Saturday, Jan. 31, at 10 a.m.

From the Detroit News: DTE Energy Music Theatre will once again be transformed into Margaritaville this summer when perennial beach bum Jimmy Buffett brings his “Summerzcool” 2009 Tour to the former Pine Knob on August 13.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Jan. 31. Ticket prices are $137.50 pavilion and $37.50 lawn, though there is a six-ticket limit per customer. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.
