Two Cheeseburger in Paradise restaurants recently closed their doors. The restaurants located in Kalamazoo and Oklahoma City closed this week. CIP restaurants are ownd by OSI Restaurant Partners (parent company of Outback Steakhouse and some other chains).
“The closure is a prudent business decision for us at this time,” said Jerry Sullivan, joint venture partner in Cheeseburger in Paradise for Michigan, in a press statement Wednesday.

What a bummer for those kids working in those locations. We love our bartenders Cristin, Mikah, James and Pauly at the Sandestin, Florida location. Hang in there guys, spring break is right around the corner!

Jimmy cashed out a few years ago.

Jimmy cashed a few years ago because he’s a prudent business man. HELLO! Warren Buffett is his cousin. BUT…I don’t think Jimmy would’ve slammed the door in the face of all those people working at those locations if HE still owned the chain!

First of all, he is not related to Warren Buffet. But he is a business man. If he was losing money he would have closed as well. Probably earlier. Look at the casino being built in Biloxi. What happened to that?

Were In The Middle of The Biggest Economic Bust since 1929 and there`s no sight of the Bottom Yet.I`m Not Surprised Restaurants Such as Cheeseburgers and many others are closing.I don`t think getting into the Casino Business was such a smart move on Jimmy`s Part.Peoples Descrectionary Money is Shrinking Fast.Going to Casinos Throwing Money Away is Probably The Last Thing People would be doing as they lose their jobs or downsized. As this Recession Gets Deeper There will be far fewer people Going out to Eat,Gambling Even Going To High Priced Concerts.I recommend People To watch the Documentary Film I O U S A.There`s an on line 30 minute version of this Academy Nominated Film that if your interested in watch can be found by Googling It.

But Don`t Worry About Jimmy he has the means to weather this economic Tsunami it`s us his devoted fans that need to worry. We made Jimmy Rich in The Good Times he should now honour his fans by lowering concert prices and doing more for us Parrotheads.

Hey, JB, would shut the doors in a heartbeat if a place was affecting the cashflow. He may be a flamming lib, but not a socialist. He has got his money and intends to keep it.
Besides, gross concert takes are a big scorecard. If he charged less for his concerts, the overall take would be lower and then he would not make the “TopTen”. It is an ego thing.

I’m sure he will find something else to attach his name to. Let’s see he already has tequila, sandals, restuarants, shirts, blenders, coolers, landshark lager, a radio station, frozen food, and what ever else to make money off of his fans. Last I heard, rum and salsa are next. If that’s not enough, you can go to his sister’s restuarant or buy her cookbook. I bet the menu is similar to any margaritaville restuarant.

What I don’t understand is if you are so down on JB why are you on this site?

Jimmy Buffett never has had an ownership of the Cheese Burger In Paradise restaurant chain. OSI has been the sole owner since the beginning, and paid rolyalties of approx $5000 per month to Jimmy Buffett. OSI did how ever meet Margaritaville, LLC with over the summer about possible selling the dying chain, but no deals were made. I’m a former OSI employee and the owning partner of the location I was employed at says these talks are still on going.

These people are damaging the good name of Jimmy Buffett! The Kalamazoo location is still listed on their web site. A friend of ours drove down from Grand Rapids which is about 45 miles and found the place closed! This was on March 5 and it’s been closed since February 11th. If I had known he was coming down,I would have warned him it was history.
I can’t figure out why it closed! On Friday through Sunday the place was packed! We routinely would have to stand outside with the cigarette addicts for 20-40 minutes to get a table. It has to be something other than the economy because I guarantee you… people were spending money in there!
