The “Sale of the Trump Casino is in Jeopardy” according to an article in the Philadelphia Inquirer. Coastal Development plans to turn The Trump Marina into a Margaritaville themed casino.

Three bankruptcy filings and Donald J. Trump’s resignation as board chairman of Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc. have thrown the casino company into turmoil.

Finalizing the sale of Trump Marina Casino Hotel looks more remote than ever – but not because of those reasons.

The interested buyer, Coastal Development L.L.C., of New York, has not secured the financing to close the deal May 26 – the targeted closing date, according to those familiar with the sale negotiations.

Analysts of the gaming industry predict the sale will not happen any time soon, because of tight credit and the declining financial performance of the property.

“Coastal Marina [an affiliate of Coastal Development] is closely monitoring news and events in Atlantic City and needs to fully evaluate the developing situation and its effects on Coastal Marina’s interests,” said Charlie Leonard, spokesman for Coastal Development.

“The bankruptcy filing had no impact on the Trump Marina sale,” he said Tuesday, the day Trump Entertainment filed for Chapter 11 protection. “The credit markets will have more of an impact. This is an extremely difficult climate to try to finance deals like this.”

Mac McAnally’s song “Down the Road” has reached no. 1 on the Billboard country singles chart this week: “Kenny Chesney Takes “Road” to No. 1“. Mac is also nominated with Chesney for an Academy of Country Music Award in the category of Vocal Event Of The Year.

Kenny’s “Down The Road,” a collaboration with Mac McAnally, marks the first time that Mac has reached the chart summit as an artist, though he’s been making an impact in a variety of ways for more than 30 years. He landed on the pop charts as a vocalist on 1977’s “It’s A Crazy World” and 1983’s “Minimum Love,” and he wrote a Jimmy Buffett pop release, “It’s My Job.” Mac also earned a country hit in 1989 with “Back Where I Come From,” which Kenny now performs regularly in his own concerts.

“I am really happy about having a No. 1 with my very good friend and, frankly, one of my songwriting heroes,” Kenny says. “The idea that you can go in the studio with a couple guitars and a great lyric, that people want to hear that, that it’s still okay to make records like this, that says a lot about what people really want and respond to.”

The Key West Citizen has an article on Jimmy Buffett’s show at the Margaritaville in Key West: “Island icon performs free concert

Singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett rolled out his musical road map of Key West and Stock Island during an unpublicized concert at Margaritaville Thursday night.

Buffett, along with guitar player Mac McAnally, performed a special acoustic show for his employees, friends and fans. Before admitting the general public, Buffett gave his employees and their families front-row seats.

During the show, Buffett paid homage to Sunshine Smith, a Key West resident and his longtime business associate he referred to as his “dear partner.” Smith has managed the 62-year-old star’s merchandising ventures for decades and oversaw the first Margaritaville in the Key West Bight in the 1980s.

Buffett mainly focused on songs that were written in or about Key West and Stock Island, including “A Pirate Looks at Forty,” “Woman Going Crazy on Caroline Street” and “Grapefruit Juicy Fruit,” which he called the “national anthem of Stock Island.” Buffett also debuted a new song called “We’ve Got A Lot to Drink About,” which he played twice.

Update: There a video available at KeysNet.com: “Buffett Rocks Margaritaville” and photos.

Update:From KeysNews.com: “Lucky 200 attend Buffett performance”

Singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett rolled out his musical road map of Key West and Stock Island during an unpublicized concert at Margaritaville Thursday night.

Buffett, along with guitar player Mac McAnally, performed a special acoustic performance for his employees, friends and fans.

Buffett focused on songs written in or about Key West and Stock Island, including “A Pirate Looks at Forty,” “Trying to Reason with Hurricane Season” and “Grapefruit Juicy Fruit,” which he called the “national anthem of Stock Island”. Buffett also debuted a new song called “We’ve Got a lot to Drink About”.

Update: Travelogged mentions more about the new song in a blog:

When Buffet introduced his song “Margaritaville”, he said “It’s a good thing I wrote this or we’d all be out of work.” (He was talking to the staff of Margaritaville and his entourage, I think.) Indeed, the recession seemed to be weighing heavily on his mind. Buffett played a new song — twice — called “We’ve Got a Lot to Drink About” that referenced madoff, subprime loans and Citigroup buying jets with bailout money. The refrain went: “Depression, recession, good God, CNN stop bumming me out.”
