From Mac McAnally’s MySpace blog: SHOW DOG RELEASES NEW MAC McANALLY SINGLE McAnally’s “You First” Follows No. 1 Smash “Down The Road”

Mac McAnally has worn many hats in his storied career – producer, vocalist, guitar ace, chart-topping songwriter, member of Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer band – and his recording artist cap received a rather nice feather with last month’s No. 1 “Down The Road.” Now, McAnally and his new label Show Dog Nashville look to build on that Country radio success with the release of “You First.”

A poignant series of vignettes about brotherly love in its various forms, “You First” ships to radio this week. The song is the first release from McAnally’s upcoming Show Dog debut album.

The single follows the successful run enjoyed by “Down The Road,” a song penned by McAnally and recorded by Kenny Chesney, who invited the acclaimed music maker to sing on the track with him. Its ascension gave McAnally his sixth No. 1 as a writer and his first as a recording artist, and led to an ACM Vocal Event of the Year nod for the collaboration. The CBS telecast airs April 5 from Las Vegas.

The full episode of South Park is now available for viewing: “Margaritaville“.

From Entertainment Weekly:

South Park solves the economic crisis – the recession came to South Park this week. The show’s metaphor for our real-world mortgage crisis was a “Margaritaville” machine, an over-priced, pointless gadget that makes the green-colored alcoholic beverages. Stan’s dad Randy owned one, Stan tried to sell it so the newly-poor family would have more to eat than “sliced hot dogs and tomato slices,” but no store or bank would take the gizmo in exchange for actual money. “Defaulting on your Margaritaville,” was one weasel-businessman’s phrase.

There’s still no confirmation on a possible TV Show based on characters from the Jimmy Buffett song “Margaritaville”

From the LA Times: Last December, the Boston Herald reported that comic Mike O’Malley, last seen in ABC’s short-lived spy drama “My Own Worst Enemy,” has been working with singer Jimmy Buffett on a new show based on the “characters” in the tune “Margaritaville.” (These characters? Nibblin’ on sponge cake, watchin’ the sun bake, all of those tourists covered with oil. Strummin’ my six-string on my front porch swing, smell those shrimp, they’re beginnin’ to boil.) “We’ve been out to a few networks and hope to have a commitment by Christmas,” O’Malley told the paper. No word yet.

In today’s New York Post there’s an article in Page Six (actually on page 10) that Jimmy played at the reception of Jim Clark and Kristy Hinze. (thanks to cedarkey for passing that along)

AUSSIE supermodel Kristy Hinze, 28, tied the knot with billionaire Netscape founder Jim Clark, 65, over the weekend. The two “wanted a quiet location with no press,” a pal said, so they picked the Rosewood Little Dix Bay resort on Virgin Gorda across from Richard Branson’s Necker Island. Guests like Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts were ferried between the two resorts and Jimmy Buffett performed at the reception.

Update: Here’s more info from Will Kimbrough’s blog: I’m fresh off the plane from Virgin Gorda by way of Tortola, British Virgin Islands. Flew down there to play with Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefers. Much fun was had, especially playing a couple of new songs we wrote together and with Mac McAnally. (thanks to silverbetty for passing that along)
