Swine NOT!! - Jimmy Buffett’s appearance on the Today Show that was scheduled for May 5th has been cancelled because of the swine flu story
From a post on TripAdvisor.com: Official statement from The TODAY Show “Because of the developing swine flu story, we have decided to postpone our ‘Today Takes A Vacation’ trip to San Antonio and Key West. Given the uncertain direction of this story, we are in a better position to cover it fully with all of our anchors, staff and crew at our home base in New York. We have not yet set a new date for the trip, but we look forward to visiting these great cities soon.”

From an article at the Country Standard Time: Show Dog Nashville singer Mac McAnally will donate all his artist royalties from his debut single “You First“, released on April 27, to the Wounded Warriors Project, which helps wounded soldiers.
The single, which is available through all digital music retailers, is prelude to a full album expected to be completed in June as McAnally works recording into his touring schedule. A longtime member of Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer band, McAnally has been on the road much of this year.
McAnally has enjoyed success as a songwriter. He wrote the recent number one hit Down The Road for Kenny Chesney and sang it with him.

An article at BusinessNC.com mentions Jimmy Buffett has interest in the new Goose Seaplane that will be built by Antilles Seaplanes.
To expedite production, the first planes will hew to the original design, though later models might incorporate carbon fiber and other advanced materials. Buyers can customize cockpits and instruments, sticking with the original layouts or opting for such high-tech gear as global positioning systems and radar. Their choices might hold some surprises. When Jimmy Buffett visited the plant, Manuel assumed he would order one with turbines. The original engines were known for being smoky, cranky — though reliable — and loud, with an unmistakable guttural roar. “Jimmy shook his head,” Manuel says. “He said, ‘Naw, man. I want to hear that thing go grrrrrrrrrrrr.’”
More from Antillesseaplanes.com: With the purchase of the McKinnon lot, Antilles now essentially had FAA approval for all its Goose designs -a major score, given that cost of FAA type certificates for new planes cost from $20 million to $320 million. (He has reserved the possibility ofbuilding special-order Gooses for those customers, such as Jimmy Buffett, who have insisted on a radial.)

The Sulphur Springs News Telegram has an article by Terry Mathews on fans raising money for several charities: “World’s richest beach bum launches Summerzcool Tour: Jimmy Buffett’s fans raise $17K for charity at Frisco tailgate party”
When Jimmy Buffett’s fans – called Parrotheads – get together, it’s a given that there will be a lot of food, fun, tropical music and adult beverages.
What most people don’t know is that Parrotheads have taken the art of tailgating to the next level.
When Buffett brought his Summerzcool Tour to Pizza Hut Park Saturday in Frisco, his fans from website www.BuffettNews.com partied with a purpose, raising money for local charities while having a great time. People came from as far as Idaho, California, New York, Massachusetts and Rhode Island to “party with a purpose.”
This year, the group decided to apply for 501(c)(3) non-profit status. “It got so big I couldn’t manage it at a personal level,” said Bill Ansel, the group’s ringleader. “The party wasn’t going to grow without getting organized under a non-profit umbrella.”
Ansel, who works as a manager at a communications company in the Dallas metroplex, has been spearheading the group’s parties since Buffett played Texas Stadium in 2004. Since 2005, the group has been raising money for charity.
“This year, we raised $17,000,” Ansel noted. “That’s awesome, when you consider the economy.”
