The Huffington Post has an interview with Bob Dylan by Bill Flanagan in which Dylan cites his favorite songwriters. “Bob Dylan Exclusive Interview: Reveals His Favorite Songwriters, Thoughts On His Own Cult Figure Status”
Flanagan: Who are some of your favorite songwriters?
Dylan: Buffett I guess. Lightfoot. Warren Zevon. Randy. John Prine. Guy Clark. Those kinds of writers.
Flanagan: What songs do you like of Buffett’s?
Dylan: “Death of an Unpopular Poet.” There’s another one called “He Went to Paris.”

Im glad Buffett’s finally getting some recognition as a great songwriter-now lets hope he starts writing more songs instead of all the covers he’s been doing on the last few cd’s.

Dylan and I have the same tastes in Jimmy’s music. I agree with Marty too. Although I heard the next album will be new stuff and I am looking forward to it!. I still think his ticklet prices are too high, and why doesn’t he come to Denver any more? I have not gotten to see Jimmy at Redrock, The most beautiful concert site possible. JT plays there nearly every summer, most of the time 2 shows. Please come to Denver in the Summer…… It’s snowing like a … well, it’s really snowing.

Interesting stuff. I have always thought of Dylan as a great songwriter and agree with his selections too!
I agree with Doc and Marty too. JB is a gifted writer; I am especially fond of his heartfelt ballads and would like to hear more before he pulls the plug.
And right on Doc - Jimmy, come to Denver man. It’s been way too long. Red Rocks would be the place, but with only 9,000 seats, I doubt he would play there again (saw him there several times a million years ago). But Fiddlers, Pepsi, heck even Invesco Field would be good!
Cheers.

I agree with Marty. I do not understand why Buffett continues to do covers when he has so many of his own great songs. I also am happy to see Jimmy get some recognition. He deserves it.
