A reliable source has mentioned the shows that were originally scheduled to take place in October are being removed from the 2009 Summerzcool Tour. Shows include 10/15 San Diego, 10/17 Las Vegas, 10/21 Seattle, and 10/24 Las Vegas. No word yet on if the shows will be rescheduled. These dates were originally announced back on February 2, 2009.

It is rumored that the change in plans to the tour dates were made to accommodate a show at the Landshark Stadium in October.

The shows that are scheduled to take place in November are still likely to happen. This includes 11/19 Toronto, 11/21 Uncasville CT, and 11/24 New York. Once we have more information we will pass it along.

From the Tampa Tribune: “Outback’s parent to sell Buffett-inspired burger chain”

Once a rising star at OSI Restaurant Partners, the Jimmy Buffett-inspired Cheeseburger in Paradise chain is leaving the company umbrella.

On Friday, Tampa-based OSI revealed in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing that it plans to sell Cheeseburger in Paradise for $2 million to an entity controlled by the chain’s president, Steve Overholt.

OSI, which operates Outback Steakhouse, Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Bonefish Grill and other brands, formed a partnership with Buffett and opened the first Cheeseburger in Paradise in 2002.

Buffett was known to occasionally perform at new restaurant locations.

However, by 2005, the singer sold his stake in the fledgling chain back to OSI, and in return OSI agreed to pay him a larger royalty for use of his likeness and the “Cheeseburger in Paradise” song.

From the Philadelphia Inquirer: “Sale of Trump Marina Casino probably is off

The deal to sell the Trump Marina Casino in Atlantic City, a struggle for months, is nearly dead.

Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc., the owner of Trump Marina, has asked Lazard Asset Management L.L.C. to shop the troubled property as part of its bankruptcy filing on Feb. 17.

The move has Coastal Development L.L.C., of New York, a potential buyer, crying foul as the May 26 deadline to close the deal approaches.

Under the deal, Coastal plans to buy and convert the Trump Marina into a Margaritaville-themed casino using entertainer Jimmy Buffett.

But the deal has been beset with problems as the economy and lending markets sagged over the last year.

Time After Island Time welcomes Brad Manard, author of Life Lessons of a Legend, a book about the late Captain Tony Tarracino.
Produced by Paul Leslie and Jeff Pike

Our special guest on this episode of Time After Island Time is an author in addition to being a musician. His name is Brad Manard and along with Captain Tony Tarracino he penned the book “Life Lessons of a Legend“, which is the story of Captain Tony sometimes known as the Salt of Key West. So what was it that made Captain Tony so special? What did he do? I think an easier question would be what did Captain Tony not do. As a young man he was a gambler who fled to New Jersey from the Mob. In his life he was a fishing and charter boat captain in Key West. He owned Captain Tony’s Saloon located on Greene Street in Key West—the oldest bar in Florida. His best friends included Tennessee William, Truman Capote, Shel Silverstein and Mel Fisher…just to name a few. The 1970s movie Cuba Crossing was made about his trip to Cuba to transport government assassins. Captain Tony was the surrogate father of singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett and the inspiration behind his classic song “Last Mango in Paris.” Captain Tony was elected mayor of Key West in 1989 at 73 years old. Captain Tony was also a very prolific man. He fathered 13 children with 50 years separating the oldest and youngest child. Most importantly I believe Captain Tony was a storyteller. Perhaps one of the best and everyone who met him loved him.

The Captain Tony special on Time After Island Time On-Demand
Saloon Owner, Storyteller, Mayor, and the Salt of Key West
Anthony Tarracino, 1916-2008

The interview with Captain Tony Tarracino is being broadcast in memorial to a friend who has touched the lives of so many. It was recorded in Key West, Florida the place on earth that he loved so very much when he was 88 years old and was originally broadcast on Radio Margaritaville. We wanted people who met Captain Tony and also those who never got the chance to hear the story of a man who has made the world a better place and as he said “has made every heart beat count.” From the very beginnings in Elizabeth, New Jersey–the story is a fascinating one, sure to inspire.
