Buffett Performs at Bonnaroo

Jimmy Buffett performed with Ilo Ferreira and the Coral Reefer Allstars on Saturday afternoon at Bonnaroo in Manchester TN.

From the Huntsville Times: “Jimmy Buffett last minute addition to Bonnaroo

Bonnaroo officials only announced Jimmy Buffett’s arrival the week before the festival kicked off. Even on Thursday, the buzz through camp was about Buffett.

He opened his show at noon today on the “Which Stage” as the crowd went crazy. There was no sign of rain in the sky, and Buffett – a notable beach and island man – said, “We definitely brought the weather.”

Fans danced and sang along to Buffett’s happy-go-lucky island songs and raised their hands above their heads imitating a shark for Buffett’s “Fins.” He sang “Brown Eyed Girl” and closed with “Margaritaville” as the hundreds of fans cheered, not minding the heat and sun.”

From Spinner: “Jimmy Buffett Serves up a ‘Margaritaville’ Breakfast at Bonnaroo

“Well, it may not be the breakfast you’re used to, but we’re going to serve it,” Buffett told the crowd — hardly a traditional Parrothead audience — as he launched into ‘Cheeseburger in Paradise.’ Running through several other classics and covers of the Grateful Dead’s ‘Scarlet Begonias’ and Van Morrison’s ‘Brown Eyed Girl,’ Buffett was mainly here to introduce his new protégé and discovery, Ilo Ferreira, a musician he found in an African cantina while en route to Mali a couple years ago.
