From Cane Garden Bay: I just got back from the Ilo show at Stephen Talkhouse and Jimmy showed up!!! Ilo sounded great!! Jimmy was off to the left of the stage and watched Ilo sing about 9-10 of his own songs, then Jimmy came up on stage and they both sang “Volcano”. Then they played a song together from Ilo’s upcoming album and then they performed “One Love”. Jimmy then left the stage to get a beer and watched Ilo sing some more songs. What I though was funny was that Jimmy was drinking a Red Stripe, then his roadie came acroos the stage and handed him a Landshark, he smiled put down the Red Stripe and had his Landshark. Ilo played a couple of more songs, then Jimmy joined him for “Margaritaville”. Jimmy & Ilo sounded wonderful together and Ilo’s band is excellent!!!

A company that once intended to buy the Trump Marina Hotel Casino is suing Trump Entertainment Resorts for $17 million.

Coastal Marina LLC, a New York company owned by a former protege of Donald Trump, claims the company allowed the property to fall into disrepair and diverted customers to other Trump casinos.

Coastal intended to partner with singer Jimmy Buffett to rebrand the struggling casino as “Margaritaville.”

Mac McAnally’s new album “Down By The River” comes out on August 1st, 2009.

The album’s first single, “You First,” offers a poignant series of vignettes in McAnally’s direct yet profound simplicity of style. He also pledged his artist royalties from the single to the Wounded Warriors Project, whose mission is to honor and empower wounded warriors.

Mac’s longtime friend Jimmy Buffett says, “It’s great to know that Mac is back, but I want to know where he went to write such good songs as these. I want to go there too!”

Friends also noted his love of music, which included, in recent years, drum-playing; they said Jimmy Buffett had serenaded Mr. Cronkite weeks ago with a ukulele at his home in the Yorkville neighborhood of Manhattan.

Retired CBS anchorman Walter Cronkite, “the most trusted man in America” died at his home in New York yesterday at the age of 92. Cronkite and Buffett were long time friends. Cronkite was an avid sailor. Jimmy attended Walter’s 90th birthday party a couple of years back. During the Beach House on the Moon Tour Walter Cronkite recorded a video counting down the launch of the Hemisphere Dancer.

Back in 1998 Walter Cronkite and Buffett appeared on CNN and discussed John Glenn’s space flight. Also back on November 16, 2001 Walter Cronkite and Ed Bradley attended a concert that Buffett did at Madison Square Garden to benefit the victims of September 11.

It was late last year, with his NFL team in the midst of a surprisingly successful season, and new Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross was humming a tune he just couldn’t get out of his head: “Fins,” a signature song from part-time Florida resident Jimmy Buffett. “You’ve got fins to the left, fins to the right, and you’re the only bait in town.”

Ross, recalling the familiar tune, then turned to Buffett, a Florida icon with national appeal. Talks started last year about a promotional partnership, and Buffett bought into the concept immediately. The relationship grew to include naming rights to the Dolphins’ home field. Buffett explained the attraction in early May at a concert when the lid was taken off the deal that rechristened the Dolphins home as Land Shark Stadium.

“We gave half the tickets to Parrot Head clubs and half to Dol-fans, and you can’t tell the difference,” said an ebullient Buffett, referring to the moniker of each group’s fan base.

From CBC.ca: “Margaritaville to anchor Calgary Stampede expansion”

Musician Jimmy Buffett’s first Canadian restaurant will anchor a new retail complex at the Calgary Stampede, developers announced on Thursday.

Margaritaville, a chain restaurant owned by Buffett, will anchor the complex. Customers will be able to enjoy a 10,000-sq. ft. outdoor patio and live entertainment including stilt walkers and balloon artists, promised the chain in a news release.

Officials said Margaritaville should open in time for 100th anniversary of the Calgary Stampede in 2012.
