The examiner.com has a review of Thursday’s show at the Jones Beach Theater in Wantaugh: “Jimmy Buffett serves up Summerzcool at Jones Beach, remembers Ted Kennedy”
Jimmy Buffett served up a delicious mix of old and new music last night at Jones Beach Theater in Wantaugh, perhaps one of the best venues to see his set of beach-laden, sea-loving odes. While Buffett brings his own stage backdrop of the wave-crashing ocean and is backed by a 10-piece band and two backup singers on a stage filled with palm trees and an overall beach theme, it’s not really needed for the Long Island show.
The Wednesday night show was especially poignant given that sailing aficionado and fellow Democrat Senator Ted Kennedy had passed away the previous night. Buffett concluded his song “Son of a Sailor” with a few photos of Kennedy on his favorite wooden sailing schooner “Mya” off the Massachusetts coast with the saying, “Sail on, Teddy.”

Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band played on Sunday August 13rd, 2009 at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City as part of the 2009 Summerzcool Tour.
The set list along with comments are now available.
A couple of changes to the set list included “Coconut Telegraph” and “Rhumba Man “. Ilo Ferreira was a special guest for the show and he sang the song “Let Me Love You“. The show ended with Jimmy doing an acoustic version of “Lovely Criuse“.
The Press of Atlantic City has a review of the show, some photos, and a video: “Parrotheads flock to Atlantic City for Jimmy Buffett concert”
Balding, barefoot and wearing a T-shirt and board shorts, the 62-year-old still brings it. With two video screens on each side of the stage and a large center one displaying videos of beach scenes and bay sunsets, Buffett chatted with the crowd all night and worked in references to the New Jersey shore, Wildwood, Cape May, the Steel Pier and The Chelsea Hotel before the second song ended.
He certainly has a lot of help to sound as good as he does. Aside from the crowd, which sings along to most of his songs, Buffett is backed by a 10-piece band and two backup singers on a stage filled with palm trees and an overall beach theme.

Philly.com has a nice article on Mac McAnally: “CasiNotes: He’ll be backing Buffett, as usual, at Boardwalk”
It was 1977, and McAnally was touring in support of his self-titled debut album. The road trip took him to the old Bijou Cafe, an intimate nightclub on Lombard Street just west of Broad. Because some of the execs at his label, Ariola, had worked for the likewise defunct ABC/Dunhill imprint (which at that time had Buffett in its stable of stars), Buffett was familiar with McAnally’s work.
“Jimmy either played that night [in Philly], or he was in town [for an upcoming gig],” recalled the Alabama-born, Mississippi-bred singer-songwriter. “He wrote me a note that said, ‘We’re both from Mississippi and we’re both storytellers. We’re gonna write together and we’re gonna be friends.’ “

Billboard has a review of my the show last week at Verizon Wireless Music Center: “Buffett – Aug. 11, 2009 – Indianapolis” by Jeff Vrabel.
Now in its 300-and-somethingth year of wandering the country, the caravan stops to jam-pack amphitheaters (this year in the stinky thick of Recession Summer), deliver two-and-a-half hours of bright sunshiney goods and move the whole train to the next station. It’s all one big mobile circus of good-natured staples, well-chosen cover songs, alcoholic squishies and an irrationally reliable good time. Barring some sort of catastrophic crash in the coconut-bra manufacturing sector or the blow-up pool market, it remains nearly impossible to look at the crowds (and the receipts) and think of a remotely logical reason to get this show off the road.
