The East Hampton Star has an article “Free, at Sea, to Air Their Wounds”
Talking, talking. Free at sea, and at other Wounded Warrior events, to speak with vets about things kept pent up when he was with his fiancée, or his daughter. His speech filled with the acronyms and abbreviations of war and its broken harvest. Talking, talking as though afraid to stop.
The three combat veterans went fishing from the Gone Fishing Marina in Montauk last Thursday as part of the Wounded Warrior Project’s continuing effort to quiet the storm that began with their service in Iraq, Afghanistan, and, in Mr. Amira’s case, on Sept. 11.
The musician Jimmy Buffett had invited them aboard his Margaritavitch in the care of Capt. Vinnie Lasorsa, who headed the boat offshore in September’s silver light past Montauk Point and toward Block Island upon an unusually calm sea.

Jimmy performed today at a memorial service for his close friend Walter Cronkite at the Lincoln Center in New York City. Jimmy was joined by Mac McAnally and Mickey Hart.
C-Span has a link to a 2.5 hour video of the memorial. Jimmy and Mac McAnally begin playing at 24:00 minutes into it
Jimmy Buffett sang his classic ”Son of a Son of a Sailor” for his sailing buddy Cronkite. But before that, he had a warm recollection of seeking some advice for a mutual friend, the late ”60 Minutes” correspondent Ed Bradley.
After a sail, ”the sun was down, the rum was out, and I said, ‘Walter, Ed called me and he’s thinking about wearing an earring on ’60 Minutes.”’
Buffett said Cronkite responded: ”It doesn’t matter if he wears an earring, as long as it’s a good story.” Then Cronkite added impishly: ”If I was going to wear an earring on ’60 Minutes,’ I’d wear one of those big, long dangly ones.”

Update: CBSNews.com will broadcast the memorial service live on Wednesday September 9th beginning at 10:30 AM Eastern time
The Examiner.com has news on the memorial service to eulogize Walter Cronkite
This Wednesday September 9th, Manhattan’s Lincoln Center will be the center of attention as it houses the memorial service to eulogize Walter Cronkite, the legendary CBS News anchorman who died on July 17th of this year. The 10:30am service will spotlight Cronkite’s career and pay tribute to this legendary pioneer in broadcasting.
Jimmy Buffett will join a well respected group of people to pay his respects to his longtime friend. Other friends scheduled to honor Mr. Cronkite include President Obama, Bill Clinton and Astronaut Buzz Aldrin. Naturally his colleagues at CBS will play a major role in this homage to their colleague. Representing CBS news will be: Leslie Moonves, President and CEO, Katie Couric, Andy Rooney, Bob Schieffer and Tom Brokaw.
Friends of Mr. Cronkite noted his love of music, so much in fact that he actually learned to play the drums a few years back. In addition, apparently Mr. Cronkite was a closet Parrot Head and Dead Head as well. Jimmy Buffett and Cronkite were friends for many years. Their most recent visit was shortly before his death. Buffett played a few of his favorite songs for his friend on his ukulele at his home in Manhattan.
