News from St. Hazards has some articles and pictures of the 60th Anniversary of LeSelect:
“Jimmy Buffett Show in St. Barths“: The big Jimmy Buffett show with the Coral Reefer Band to celebrate the 60th anniversary of LeSelect went on yesterday, Saturday, on the harbor. Jimmy put on a two hour concert that had all of the favorites and some new songs. And all for his friend Marius.
“Jimmy Buffett at Le Select on Sunday“: The owner of Le Select in St. Barths, Marius Stakelborough, finished his three day celebration of his 60th anniversary in grand style on Sunday. His good friend Jimmy Buffett stopped by to shoot the champagne cork at a bee that hangs over the bar - a very long tradition at Le Select.

Thank you Marius for letting us crash your party. A highlight of my life.

Was at the concert in St. Barths. Disaster. Jimmy was great but the crowd was out of control and crushing people coming in and out. Kids and adults were crying. We had to stand outside around the back of stage. French people were also very agrrogant, calling us F*(&^ Americans for crowding them. Thanks but no thanks.

A once-in-a-lifetime experience for us. Jimmy didn’t disappoint. The rain stopped right as he started playing and resumed at the end of the concert. Saw him at a bar later that night. St. Barts was a GREAT place to see him in his element.

This was my most amazing close encounter with Jimmy. I was there. Although crowd management presented some problems, I totally disagree with a poster (Joanne) that says that it was a disaster. I am almost the the same age as Jimmy. I camped out (at 10AM for the 8 PM concert) on the front line with real Buffett discipals to get a a prime view of the event. It was a priviledge to meet these people and to drink beer with them. This event completed more than one “bucket list” event for me. I actually got to shake hands with Jimmy as well as talk with Marius. What two nice guys! I only wish I could hang out with them more often. Jimmy is one of the most mellow and happiest people I have ever had the privelige of observing. Actually, that’s what his whole genres is about, i.e. it makes us all feel good to listin to his music.
