Jimmy was supposed to be in Orlando with us last night.

  2. 2. Lebowski Says:

Very cool to see those three artists together at the same gig. I like Zac Brown Band a lot. If any of you haven’t listened to him yet I suggest you get his album The Foundation. Authentic roots, country with a touch of the beach. Great record.

  3. 3. Ryan Says:

I live in Ft. Myers, FL and was planning on making the trip over to see Zac Brown Band in Boca. See what happens when you hesitate. Be like the famous shoe company and JUST DO IT! See you next time Jimmy.

What a joke!!! Does Buffett just hop on any band’s stage if they sing a crappy, generic song about the ocean, drinking, and include the word “seniorita”? Zc Brown Band is just another step in the recent downfall of “country” music. Every song is about the same damn topic; how cool it is to be a redneck from a small town, drinkin a six pack in your blue jeans, listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd on the radio, waking up on Sunday, going to church, playing football with the family on Sunday afternoon, etc…. pretty much nailed it, didn’t I? Oh, and lets capitalize on beach music too.

Any real Parrotthead hates this brand of music. It’s non-original and completely fake and hollow. Yet, Buffett has bought into his own hype. What happened to the storyteller. The guy who captured real, true feelings on A1A? Clearly, playing with these generic bands, shows he has lost contact with what made him real. The day he goes on tour with the ultimate identity theif (Kenny Chesnut) I and many true parrotheads will call it quits!!! It’s about more than drinking on the seashore, people!!!

I did like Jimmy (and his concerts) better went he wasn’t hanging with the country people.
This years concert in Cincinnati, had much more rowdy/rude people.
Me and my wife were pushed, stepped on, and in one case, got a beer bath, more this year, than all the years combined.
I still enjoy going and see Jimmy perform, I just wish he would stick to his music, and not songs like Yellow Submarine!
    Remember your roots Jimmy,

I think the Zac Brown Band is one of the greatest modern country acts around. Zac has been on the road for 13 years….his hard work is paying off.

    I like the songs…

  7. 7. Fallon Says:

Why did this become a JB bashing comments section?

To comment on the story itself.. kudos to JB for doing what he wants to do. I bet it was a great set.

  8. 8. Lebowski Says:

Well said Fallon. I think it’s great to see Jimmy with musicians he likes or relates to. Keeps it new and most likely keeps him young. He’s made a career at playing by his own rules and having fun. I feel lucky to have discovered his music for myself and I’m still enjoying the ride.

  9. 9. Parrot Pete Says:

Jimmy has lost touch with his true fans. Not showing at MOTM was a spit in the face. Then canceling Vegas twice and Orlando, just to show up with the Zac Brown Band? MOTM had the last half hour with the Boatdrunks and Club Trini reserved for JB - thank goodness for Jake from the BDs. as he jumped in and sang the Buffett songs. People were very angry and were taking items back to Jimmy’s Margaritaville. Got to hit the money hungry guy where it hurts -his pocketbook. For me, longtime Parrothead, I’m done. No more $150 concerts. Let him play to the college kids like at UVA - they know Margaritville and will buy his damn teeshirt for $40. WOW, what a jerk he has become.

  10. 10. KCParrothead Says:

    Pete
Have you ever seen the Zac Brown band live? They may be the most talented group of musicians that I have seen in a long time. Just like Jimmy if you just based an opinion on him by the songs that are played on the radio you would think the same thing. Before you comment on a band you might want to actually see them perform.

  11. 11. cat Says:

What? I was at that show and he DID NOT join the band onstage!

  12. 12. Prairie Pirate Says:

OMG Pete, chill out! I’ve also been a parrothead for many many years and I’m not about to quit over something like this.

I think it’s great Jimmy has expressed his interest in this band. I also thinks it’s cool that I discovered Zac Brown last year about the same way I discovered Jimmy all those years ago. I heard a song or two that I thought was strangley cool that I could relate to, and I felt compelled to find out more about them. Strangley enough, I was also a huge Charlie Daniels fan growing up, and I saw them do an incredible cover of “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” on one of the wards shows recently.

Some of their music is similar in a way, and rightfully so. With so many of these young bands coming up in the world, you must know from seeing all of the “parakeets” at the concerts over the years, that some of these kids probably have grown up listening to Jimmy and the Coral Reefers like my kids have. I expect we’ll see more of it pretty soon as this next generation takes the reins.

I’ll be honest, a first I wrestled with the Kenny Chesney thing but then I realized, escapism is a concept that intrigues the minds of a lot of people and has for many years. No one person can corner the market on the majic of escapism. And don’t forget, imitation is the most sincere form of flattery.

One of the reasons I’ve listened to Jimmy’s music for so many years is to free my mind of uptight people that get all worked up over senseless things.

  13. 13. Chris Mann Says:

Cat is right. I was close enough to shine Zac Brown’s shoes at the Nov. 14th Boca Raton concert. There was no Jimmy Buffet appearance at that show.
