My birthday is in December too. 2 days from Jimmy’s. I want to be invited too!! I just saw him at JPJ on Tuesday and it was great!!! PHINS UP!

I’ll say it again, and this may be the last time…..

“What a joke!!! Does Buffett just hop on any band’s stage if they sing a crappy, generic song about the ocean, drinking, and include the word “seniorita”? Zac Brown Band is just another step in the recent downfall of “country” music. Every song is about the same damn topic; how cool it is to be a redneck from a small town, drinkin a six pack in your blue jeans, listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd on the radio, waking up on Sunday, going to church, playing football with the family on Sunday afternoon, etc…. pretty much nailed it, didn’t I? Oh, and lets capitalize on beach music too.

Any real Parrotthead hates this brand of music. It’s non-original and completely fake and hollow. Yet, Buffett has bought into his own hype. What happened to the storyteller. The guy who captured real, true feelings on A1A? Clearly, playing with these generic bands, shows he has lost contact with what made him real. The day he goes on tour with the ultimate identity theif (Kenny Chestnut) I and many true parrotheads will call it quits!!! It’s about more than drinking on the seashore, people!!!” - earlier post

Thank God I have recently aquired an affinity for all things Gordon Lightfoot!!! Somebody needs to write honest, heartfelt, sincere songs, because Buffett stopped doing that after Banana Wind!!! It’s nice to go to a show where the main attraction is the song/lyrical content. I’m sick of all the drunks who only go because it’s an excuse to party ’til they die. His concerts have become rude and obnoxious, and the frat boys/girls can only sing two songs, (can you name them…?) Keep going Gord!!! And Jimmy, keep distancing yourself farther away from the kind of music that built your following. Hey, how about a tour with identity theft himself….that would make you billions!!!!!!!!!

Pete, relax. Have a drink, put in You Had To Be There and kick up your feet. Jimmy is a free person just as much as you are and if he likes certain bands and music that you don’t please respect his choice. Don’t knock a band until you’ve seen them live and please stop trying to categorize music and artists. Jimmy doesn’t owe you anything or anyone else for that matter. He records music, performs on stage and does it because he loves it. Not because of what YOU will think of him . I think that is refreshing. Too many artists today care whether or not they have an image or have a top 5 single on the chart. At 62 I feel lucky that Jimmy continues to tour major cities with the occasional exotic location or small gig where fans can see him. I think any real Parrot Head would be happy to know he’s still out there doing what he loves to do. If he likes to listen to Metallica when he’s fishing I’m not going to judge him. People go to his shows for all kinds of reasons and it’s unfair for you to throw everyone in the same boat. I didn’t like Far Side of the World but that doesn’t mean I won’t like the next record or songs he releases. Do I miss the pot smoking references and drinking stories? Sure. Would I like more steel drums and less steel guitar? Yes. That doesn’t mean he has run out of things to say and can’t throw us a curve ball in the creative sense. Still is the ultimate storyteller and I think great artists like that keep great company. If Mac McAnally likes playing and writing with Jimmy I think that says it all. More stories to be told from Jimmy and I know I’m not alone when I say that . You act like Jimmy is cheating on you when he plays on stage with Zac Brown. I think it’s great. Keeps it new, fun, young and embraces more people with their connection. Bet Jimmy influenced Zac at some point and it’s very cool to hear about the Crossroads gig. Jimmy deserves that opportunity and if Zac is a fan I’m happy for him.

Drop the anger and listen to the records he made that you enjoy and chill out. That’s what they’re there for. Cheers.

Meeting Mac in the hallway on the way to the Green Room was the highlight of the trip.

  7. 7. RustyB Says:

    Pete,

Have you ever listened to Zac Brown or seen him in concert or have you just heard one song? You know kinda like just knowing Cheeseburger. Zac writes some cool stuff, his shows are fun, they are real and they actually have different songs in them. You must be cousin’s with Crawfish.

  8. 8. Reefer Says:

I agree with Lebowski!! Have a crown and sprite and chill out!!!! New Jimmy record out Dec 8th. Just enjoy it, and take what comes! Jimmy is almost 63 and still putting out kick ass music. What else do you want?!?!??!?!??!?!?

  9. 9. parrotbay Says:

    Hey Pete,

Maybe you should go hangout over at GordonLightNews.com. Oh wait, you may have to start that website first, then you can hang with the all those Lightfootheads and tell them how Buffett is a sale out. You guys can talk about all that crappy country music that sales millions of albums, gets radio play and sales out venues.

What is the purpose of coming to this site and wasting time berating JB and us? Really, how long did it take you to come up with that crap and type it out.

  10. 10. crawfish Says:

rock on pete. gord is the boom.
these parrothead idiots are a bunch of sheep.

  11. 11. Bubbafan Says:

  13. 13. dw -uk Says:

cant believe that so many non fans come on to the web site! have they nothing better to do - saying that crawfish does amuse me - serious anger issues! Buffett News gives great info to us over the pond where nothing is published on the subject. As damp gloomy grey weather looms for the next six months i just sit back in the car on school runs and think of a good sunset in some hot climate whilst listening to Jimmy! Nothing more serious than that - chill out!

  14. 14. Airstream87 Says:

Buffett has always pushed the envelope in everything he does, I guess that’s why there are soooooo many Parrettheads. I used to carry his music to my NATO meetings and got many europeans turned into Parrettheads. I would love to see him preform with Zac Brown Band and I’m only 100 miles away.

  15. 15. Shawn Palmer Says:

I am going!!! Zac is taking me to the rehearsal, and I have two tickets to the concert. Awesome. Get to meet Jimmy for the first time ever.

  16. 16. Parrothd Says:

I’m going too Shawn, have tickets will travel. I would love to meet Buffet and Zac, but I dunno if thats part of my package or not..Oh well I’m sure it will be a blast anyway!

  17. 17. FranklinTNPhin Says:

I will be at the show tonight and I can’t wait! I feel pretty d%*n lucky!
