MusicRadar.com reports that Martin introduces the LX Jimmy Buffett guitar:

Jimmy Buffett has played Martin guitars for decades - and it’s been some party. C.F. Martin & Co. has acknowledged his loyalty twice: in 1998 with the Martin HD-18JB Jimmy Buffett Signature Edition, a classic stage/studio guitar offered in an edition of 424 that sold out immediately, and in 2003 with the Martin 000-JBS Jimmy Buffett Shellback and 000-JBP Jimmy Buffett Pollywog Signature Editions, “off-shore” (as in sailboat-ready) guitars that totaled 168 and 305, respectively.

As Buffett recently pointed out, the one namesake guitar Martin hadn’t yet built for him was a “beach” guitar; a small, sturdy guitar to play at beach with friends and one that would bring that fun, carefree “beach” spirit wherever it went. So under Jimmy’s guidance - Martin Guitar is pleased to introduce the LX Jimmy Buffett.

The Martin LX Jimmy Buffett guitar features the same “go everywhere” design and materials as the popular and fine sounding LXM “Little Martin;” a modified 0 14-fret shape and short 23-inch scale, with an HPL body matched to Sitka spruce top bracing, a modified low oval Stratabond neck, tropical hardwood fingerboard, and Micarta belly bridge.

    Price and where available?

  2. 2. Ryan Says:

Looks like any Martin dealer, and using the “Elvis LX” as an example price may be somewhere in the 500-600 range

To give everyone a little comparison between this guitar and his Martin HD 18 JB
This one is smaller in size. Both have 14 clear frets and 20 total frets but the size of the frets on the LX are smaller. This one is just an acoustic and not an acoustic electric. Also the HD 18 was a limited edition only producing 424 where as the LX will be open ended.
The LX guitar is also much more weather repellent being that the back and sides are a koa wood laminate where as the HD 18 were made of solid genuine mahogany
The price martin is suggesting for this guitar is 649.00

Not bad, for a “second” guitar one can take out in the elements. I’ll have to give ‘em a listen when they arrive in the stores.

    $650.00 at the Martin site.

$500 at Guitar Center website. Can probably talk them down to $500 w/ bag in person. I’ve got the baby martin… same thing at $300. So $200 for the art.

I ordered one thru my local Martin dealer. If it sounds like the LXM, it’ll be perfect as my “go anywhere” guitfiddle. Unfortunately, given the design & construction it’s not available as a “Little Martin LX1E” (i.e. their factory-equipped Little Martin which features Fishman electronics). However, my dealer was graciously willing to outfit my “Buffett” with passive Fishman electronics when it arrives from the factory. No firm delivery date yet, but it will be well worth the wait. This “parrothead” is thrilled to be among the 300 fortunate souls who will have one for his very own! Thanks to Jimmy and our friends at C.F. Martin for making this a reality… and Dan Rizzie for the totally excellent art featured on the face of the instrument.

Got mine a couple weeks ago. It’s great!!! Everything I hoped it would be. I love it and I’m glad I was able to get one.

  12. 12. Fred Says:

Mine arrived yesterday. It keeps my collection up to date (already have an HD18-JB and a 000-JBP) and is small and sturdy enough to take anywhere.
