According to the Examiner.com Jimmy Buffett is on a list of performers being considered to perform at half-time during the 2011 Superbowl in Dallas, TX.

According to SportsByBrooks and their ‘inside source’ at the NFL and CBS, the Short List of acts being considered are: Kenny Chesney, Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, Brooks & Dunn, and Jimmy Buffett.

According to a published report at SportsbyBrooks, Rene Zellweger’s former husband of exactly 4 minutes and 7 seconds—Kenny Chesney—is lobbying hard to be anointed as the Next Big Halftime Show, playing in front of a worldwide audience at the biggest sporting event of the year.

How awesome would it be to have Jimmy Buffett play at the Super Bowl. I would have to save up and make the trip (it would be hard convincing the wife! :-) ).

Kenny Chesney would be cool too, but not nearly as awesome as Bubba!

    JB all the way!!!!

  3. 3. Lindsay Says:

Well It`s About Time and about time he gets into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

  4. 4. Bobby Do Says:

If their inside source was at CBS, I wouldn’t trust it. Fox is broadcasting the 2011 Super Bowl from Arlington. Jimmy (or a combination of all!) would be a great improvement from the past few.

Jimmy & the Coral Reefer Band will get overlooked for some horse hockey Pop-Country show like Tim McGraw. As a 32-year old native Texan, I have seen that it is usually the biggest mainstream act that gets to perform at the Superbowl. So let’s not get our hopes up…especially when annoying FM radio doesn’t even care to play Jimmy’s music, unless it is about Margaritas, Cheeseburgers, or Mondays. As much as I want Bubba to finally get some praise, I would be suprised if they said yes to JB.

It would be nice to see JB at the half time show. Unfortunately, as we all know, it will not happen. It would be a total shock if he were chosen. The Super Bowl is in Texas, which is well, cowboy country. I was totally unaware that JB was not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. What a crying shame! Regardless, the true Parrotheads know JB true gift to music and life. Sadly, after all these years, there are still people who are oblivious to JB’s music. Oh well, that is there loss.

It’s time. There are only so many 60-something rock stars/musicians left alive. The halftime show has turned as “safe” as possible. I’ll actually watch the show if it happens, but it was only a matter of time. if it happens, don’t expect anything interesting; it will be all the songs EVERYbody knows. But, it would still be fun.

Jb alone might not be big enough, but I’d love to see him perform with his country pals ala ‘License to Chill’. That would be safe, fun, and provide the star power the Superbowl requires. It would certainly fly in Dallas.

  9. 9. Tom Says:

Surprised they haven’t chosen Taylor Swift–she’s been everywhere else!

  10. 10. Rick Says:

If Jimmy plays, he’ll likely get to play “Margaritaville” as part of a medley of “country” artists, even though Jimmy’s music isn’t really country. “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere” might make it in, but that would be the limit.

The NFL doesn’t understand country very well, so they would likely have a few people playing just to keep it safe.

I prefer Jessica Simpson. Who farted?

  12. 12. Fartface McGee Says:

    I farted!

Did you catch JB at the most recent Super Bowl???!!! He’d lose the first half of his fun if he performed. Certainly would top “numbers in his audience”. That kind of exposure might be worth the two quarters of abstinence!!??????? Love to see it happen.

they are about to implode the texas stadium tomorrow at 6/7 am. it’s been there for 30 years, and even thought I LOVE JIMMY BUFFETT, i truly believe the honor of 1/2 time concert belongs to a native texas, although i know he’s hung with jerry jeff and been on the coast and stuff, but i would vote for willie or ZZ TOPP

  15. 15. Rina Kearsley Says:

She is a totally outstanding performer. I have all of her albums.
