What! No “Sail On Sailor” by the Beach Boys/and orJimmy Buffett! Rock The Boat by the Hues Corp! Puh-Lease!

  2. 2. Lisa Barr Says:

Guy Clark’s “Boats to Build” is missing too!

  3. 3. Jim L Says:

I second that thought – “Rock the boat”??? To qualify as a top boat song, the song has to convey the feeling of being out on the water. I agree that Sail on Sailor belongs here.

Also missing from the list is Loggins and Messina’s “Vahevala” (with their “Sailing the Wind” as a great backup) and Mark Knopfler’s “Sailing to Philadelphia”.

I love “5 O’Clock Somewhere” but that has one slight mention of sailing away compared to “Son of a Son of a Sailor.”

Well it’s Friday approaching 5 O’Clock so I’ll be slipping on my Sailin’ Shoes (Robert Palmer or Little Feat) and Sailin’ On (Toots & the Maytals). Cheers.

  4. 4. Rita Says:

This is better than Smoke on the Water that won for Boating Magazine a few years back…not a Buffett song on that list! Many of these are songs JB has covered…he knows a good boating song when he hears one!

  5. 5. Tony Hayward Says:

Come on guys you forgot two of the best.”Sailing” by Christopher Cross and “Cool Change” by Little River Band.

  6. 6. Chris I Says:

Isn’t Come Sail Away actually about a space ship? Just askin ;^)

  7. 7. Lindsay Says:

Damn they missed Boat Drinks, The Hockey Song, The Best Boat Song Ever

  8. 8. RumShopRyan Says:

Great list! I have a boat playlist that we listen to on the boat and every one of these songs is one it multiple times- original, live, encores….you name it.

    Fins Up!

  9. 9. Doc Holliday Says:

How about “Sea Cruise” by Frankie Ford. Jimmy does an excellent cover of it also!
