Jimmy Buffett’s “A Pirate Looks at 40″ tops the list of the Top Boat Songs. The top ten list also includes ”It’s Five O’clock Somewhere” and “Knee Deep”.

The boating-promotion organization Discover Boating recently released its top-10 list of boating songs, a group of boating tunes chosen by a vote of Discover Boating’s Facebook fans.

3. ”Redneck Yacht Club” by Craig Morgan.

I second that thought – “Rock the boat”??? To qualify as a top boat song, the song has to convey the feeling of being out on the water. I agree that Sail on Sailor belongs here.
Also missing from the list is Loggins and Messina’s “Vahevala” (with their “Sailing the Wind” as a great backup) and Mark Knopfler’s “Sailing to Philadelphia”.
I love “5 O’Clock Somewhere” but that has one slight mention of sailing away compared to “Son of a Son of a Sailor.”
Well it’s Friday approaching 5 O’Clock so I’ll be slipping on my Sailin’ Shoes (Robert Palmer or Little Feat) and Sailin’ On (Toots & the Maytals). Cheers.

This is better than Smoke on the Water that won for Boating Magazine a few years back…not a Buffett song on that list! Many of these are songs JB has covered…he knows a good boating song when he hears one!

Great list! I have a boat playlist that we listen to on the boat and every one of these songs is one it multiple times- original, live, encores….you name it.
