From Shreveporttimes.com: “Margaritaville developers close on riverboat casino and license

Bossier Casino Venture took ownership of a Lake Charles casino and gaming license Thursday, enabling the company to move forward with plans for a $197 million Margaritville resort casino north of the Louisiana Boardwalk.

“We are excited to begin construction on our Margaritaville Resort Casino, which will combine the carefree, island lifestyle theme of Margaritaville with a ‘Las Vegas’ style gaming experience and enable the Shreveport-Bossier City gaming market to experience major growth,” casino developer Paul Alanis said in a statement.

Construction is expected to start immediately and will last about 16 months. Trotter said the financing for the project is in place, and Margaritaville should open in June 2013.

Margaritaville will feature a 30,000-square-foot, single-level gaming floor with more than 1,300 slot machines and 46 table games. It will also include the famous “It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere” bar, an 18-story hotel with nearly 400 rooms, a 900-seat state of the art entertainment venue, spa and fitness center, and a 400-seat Margaritaville restaurant.

The Bossier City location will be third and largest of Margaritaville-themed casino. An existing casino is open in Las Vegas, and another is expected to open in the next few months in Biloxi, Miss.

From RollingStone.com: “Bret Michaels New Album to Include Duets With Loretta Lynn, Jimmy Buffett

Bret Michaels’ upcoming solo album, Get Your Rock On, will include a few friends. “Loretta Lynn and I are gonna redo ‘Every Rose Has It’s Thorn’ together,” he tells Rolling Stone. “And, for me, growing up in a family that my father loved country music and Coal Miner’s Daughter, this is gonna be a really awesome time.”

Among the other guests on the album are Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen and Jimmy Buffett. “The song ‘Get Your Rock On’ has Phil Collen from Def Leppard playing guitar with me and it also has Sal Costa from My Darkest Days, really, really good guitar player and good friend,” he says. “Jimmy Buffet and I did a live version of ‘Margaritaville’ together.

Michaels says the two duets, with Lynn and Buffett, will be “two bonus tracks.” And of the rest of the record he says, “It is just straight up in your face rock & roll.”

Here’s is a video of Jimmy and Bret Michaels performing “Margaritaville” at the DTE Music Theatre in Clarkston MI on June 22nd, 2010.

Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band performed at the Amway Center in Orlando FL last night. The Set List the show is now available.

The Orlando Sentinel has a review of the show review: “Jimmy Buffett at Amway Center

It was Groundhog Day this past week, which means it was time for Jimmy Buffett to emerge, see his shadow and hit the road for another chorus of the Margaritaville songbook.

Like Bill Murray’s character in the Groundhog Day movie, Buffett exists in an on-stage reality that doesn’t change much. To his credit, he obviously enjoys the continuity.

On a stage that was as low-key as the guy’s attitude, Buffett and his 10-piece Coral Reefer Band performed in front of a couple of giant beach umbrellas, a wooden fence and not much else aside from a giant video screen to show oceanfront views and other images.

“It was a lovely day in Orlando today,” Buffett told the crowd, in the midst of an opening salvo that included “The Wino and I Know,” “License to Chill” and the party anthem “It’s 5 o’clock Somewhere.” The latter featured singer-guitarist Mac McAnally, one of the formidable talents in the band, as a capable substitute for original duet partner Alan Jackson.

The tour resumes on Saturday February 25th at the BJCC Arena in Birmingham, AL.
