Buffett was Workin’ and Playin’ in Houston!

Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band perform last night at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in Houston, TX. It was the first large venue show for the 2015 Workin’ n’ Playin’ Tour.

The set list from the show is now available. Buffett and the band played 28 songs including “Ragtop Day”, “The Great Filling Station Holdup”, “Off To See The Lizard”, “Stars On The Water”, “If I Had A Boat”, “Pascagoula Run”, “Jolly Mon Sing”, “Last Man Standing”, “Island”, and “Window on the World”.

The show included the debut of a new song that Buffett and Mac McAnally wrote called “Workin’ n’ Playin'”. Buffett ended the show with the song “Defying Gravity”.

Robert Greenidge performed an instrumental medley on the steel pan drums that included “King of Somewhere Hot”, “Hot Hot Hot”, and “Lage Nom Ai”.

The Houston Chronicle has a review of the show: “Surf’s up, way up, at Jimmy Buffett concert

Jimmy Buffett widened his audience Thursday night at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. Not horizontally past the back fence of the lawn. Vertically into space.

Buffett’s latest stop on his “Workin’ and Playin’ 2015” tour was beamed to the International Space Station, where U.S. astronaut and admitted Parrothead Terry Virts has been spending the past six months doing experiments and racking up frequent flier miles.

Virts appeared on a big screen behind Buffett during the show — urging concert fans to get involved in science and read up on the U.S. space program.

Buffett wore a plain yellow T-shirt, lavender wristbands and purple shorts. No shoes, no socks. Percentage of his tour’s production budget spent on wardrobe – $17.95.

This week’s historic flood spared the Pavilion. Buffett walked onstage and shouted, “The land is dry, let’s have a party!”
