From TulsaWorld.com: “It’s 5 o’clock in Tulsa: Jimmy Buffett performs at namesake casino resort”
At 5 o’clock Saturday afternoon, it was Margaritaville in Tulsa. And at the stroke of 5, the man who wrote “Margaritaville” and the chief Parrothead himself, Jimmy Buffett, declared it so.
“To the city of Tulsa, it’s great to not only play here, but to be part of the city,” Buffett said to the nearly 3,000 Parrotheads in attendance at the new River Spirit Casino Resort venue, Paradise Cove.
Saturday served as a grand opening party for the Margaritaville addition to the River Spirit Casino Resort, a feather in the cap of a $365 million renovation that has opened in stages over the last six months, starting with the Margaritaville casino and restaurant, then the hotel tower and music venue.
Buffett played just over an hour at the venue, a departure from the festivals, stadiums and arenas he’s used to, but neither he nor his fans seemed to mind the change in atmosphere. It was still a party in Tulsa on Saturday night.
Margaritaville’s first ever Facebook live is a cool walk through of the beautiful new Margaritaville at River Spirit Casino in Tulsa, along with some of Buffett and the band’s soundcheck.
