From Mercury News: “Jimmy Buffett delivers memorable tribute to late, great Tom Petty”
Jimmy Buffett was back in the Bay Area on Thursday night, delighting fans at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco with such longtime concert favorites as “Find” and “Volcano.”
Yet, Mr. “Margaritaville” also took the time to pay tribute to the great Tom Petty, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer who died Oct. 2.
First up, Buffett performed a really solid version of Petty’s 1989 hit “I Won’t Back Down.”.

Later in the set – during the encore, actually – he’d perform yet another Petty classic, “Wildflowers.”
Buffett also paid tribute to his old buddy Glenn Frey (who died in 2016) and played a nice version of the Eagles’ first hit, “Take It Easy.”
And, as per usual in San Francisco, Buffett tipped his hat to Jerry Garcia (who died in 1995) and the Grateful Dead, this time around with “Scarlet Begonias” (which he’s played many times before in the Bay Area).
