Four Broadway shows coming to Fort Lauderdale’s Broward Center for the Performing Arts next season are going to be South Florida premieres. Those first-timers for the 2019-2020 season include “Escape to Margaritaville,” “Disney’s Aladdin, “Mean Girls” and “Bandstand.”
Nov. 19-Dec. 1: “Escape to Margaritaville”
Parrotheads finally have their very own jukebox musical of Jimmy Buffett tunes. When the show debuted on Broadway last February, the critics savaged the production. But Buffett fans will probably love hearing Great White Way arrangements of “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere,” “Why Don’t We Get Drunk,” “Son of a Son of a Sailor,” “My Head Hurts, My Feet Stink and I Don’t Love Jesus,” “Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes,” “Margaritaville” — and that’s just in the first act.
