According to American Angler magazine, ESPN recently shot a film in Eleuthera in the Bahamas, and it features Jimmy Buffett, Tom McGuane, Tom Brokaw and a few other guys you would not know unless you were into fly-fishing. It will be a six-part series of fishing footage and interviews that will air in January 2010 on ESPN2. The intent is to promote the conservation of some fragile fishing areas and some endangered species in that area. (thanks to Tim for passing that along to us)
From the Today Show website:
For one week this May, America’s first TV family will be spending more than just their mornings together. Matt Lauer, Meredith Vieira, Al Roker and Ann Curry will pack their bags and head to some of America’s most beautiful destinations. “TODAY Takes a Vacation,” a five-day series, begins Monday, May 4…
Lauer added details about the anchors’ itinerary for Tuesday, May 5. “We’ll travel to mile marker zero in Key West, Florida,” he said. “From the southernmost point in the U.S., we will look for sunken treasure. And you can’t go to Key West without a little music from Jimmy Buffett, who’ll greet us with a live concert.”
Update: The unofficial Coconut Telegraph says it will take place at the Westin Key West Resort & Marina.

The full episode of South Park is now available for viewing: “Margaritaville“.
From Entertainment Weekly:
South Park solves the economic crisis – the recession came to South Park this week. The show’s metaphor for our real-world mortgage crisis was a “Margaritaville” machine, an over-priced, pointless gadget that makes the green-colored alcoholic beverages. Stan’s dad Randy owned one, Stan tried to sell it so the newly-poor family would have more to eat than “sliced hot dogs and tomato slices,” but no store or bank would take the gizmo in exchange for actual money. “Defaulting on your Margaritaville,” was one weasel-businessman’s phrase.
There’s still no confirmation on a possible TV Show based on characters from the Jimmy Buffett song “Margaritaville”
From the LA Times: Last December, the Boston Herald reported that comic Mike O’Malley, last seen in ABC’s short-lived spy drama “My Own Worst Enemy,” has been working with singer Jimmy Buffett on a new show based on the “characters” in the tune “Margaritaville.” (These characters? Nibblin’ on sponge cake, watchin’ the sun bake, all of those tourists covered with oil. Strummin’ my six-string on my front porch swing, smell those shrimp, they’re beginnin’ to boil.) “We’ve been out to a few networks and hope to have a commitment by Christmas,” O’Malley told the paper. No word yet.
South Park sets its eyes on the economy this Wednesday when everyone in the town of South Park, Colorado is having financial problems. And of all people, it’s Randy Marsh to the rescue, with an idea to turn everyone’s lives around and the entire town gets behind him.
Tune in and find out if Randy’s idea is a winner when South Park airs on Wednesday, March 25th at 10:00pm ET on Comedy Central. “Margaritaville” will re-air multiple times throughout the week; you can catch it at 12:00am and 10:00pm on Thursday, 12:00am on Friday, 11:00pm on Sunday, and 3:30 am and 10:00pm on Monday.
