Buffett to Perform on the Today Show (cancelled)

From the Today Show website:

For one week this May, America’s first TV family will be spending more than just their mornings together. Matt Lauer, Meredith Vieira, Al Roker and Ann Curry will pack their bags and head to some of America’s most beautiful destinations. “TODAY Takes a Vacation,” a five-day series, begins Monday, May 4…

Lauer added details about the anchors’ itinerary for Tuesday, May 5. “We’ll travel to mile marker zero in Key West, Florida,” he said. “From the southernmost point in the U.S., we will look for sunken treasure. And you can’t go to Key West without a little music from Jimmy Buffett, who’ll greet us with a live concert.

Update: The unofficial Coconut Telegraph says it will take place at the Westin Key West Resort & Marina.

Full Episode of South Park now online

The full episode of South Park is now available for viewing: “Margaritaville“.

From Entertainment Weekly:

South Park solves the economic crisis – the recession came to South Park this week. The show’s metaphor for our real-world mortgage crisis was a “Margaritaville” machine, an over-priced, pointless gadget that makes the green-colored alcoholic beverages. Stan’s dad Randy owned one, Stan tried to sell it so the newly-poor family would have more to eat than “sliced hot dogs and tomato slices,” but no store or bank would take the gizmo in exchange for actual money. “Defaulting on your Margaritaville,” was one weasel-businessman’s phrase.

TV Show based on Characters from Margaritaville

There’s still no confirmation on a possible TV Show based on characters from the Jimmy Buffett song “Margaritaville”

From the LA Times: Last December, the Boston Herald reported that comic Mike O’Malley, last seen in ABC’s short-lived spy drama “My Own Worst Enemy,” has been working with singer Jimmy Buffett on a new show based on the “characters” in the tune “Margaritaville.” (These characters? Nibblin’ on sponge cake, watchin’ the sun bake, all of those tourists covered with oil. Strummin’ my six-string on my front porch swing, smell those shrimp, they’re beginnin’ to boil.) “We’ve been out to a few networks and hope to have a commitment by Christmas,” O’Malley told the paper. No word yet.
