Re: Who's Going To Bethel Woods 7/17?

Even if the lots don't open until three, the area around the Woodstock Monument is always open. If enough people start to party there (it's at the main crossroads leading into the north access to the venue) they will be forced to open the lots. If enough people line up at the gates, it will block th...

Re: Bethel Woods

Eric, I agree with everything you said, except for the part about BW having trouble bringing in acts the past few years. I think they have done exactly what they have wanted to do...they opened with a bang by bringing CSNY back to Woodstock (great show, by the way,) they've packed the place with cou...

Re: Bethel Woods

You're right, everything is about two hours away. Once you get into upstate NY things start spreading out more than they do in the city. The Baseball HOF in Cooperstown is about two hours to the north, the city is an hour and a half to the south, and the Finger Lakes are about three hours to the wes...

Re: Bethel Woods

I'm in. After doing the math and considering the other shows I was planning on going to there, I just bit the bullet and bought two season lawn tickets. Now, in addition to seeing Jimmy, I also get to see Lady Antebellum, James Taylor, Willie with Allison Krauss and Kacey Musgraves (my teenage son i...

Re: Bethel Woods

Wow, its been so long since I've been here it took me a while to remember my password... Bethel Woods is about 40 minutes from my house, so I've been there quite a bit. They do allow tailgating, but I'm not sure what they will do about the four hour rule. My best friend is part of the State Police d...

Forget about meeting Jimmy unless you get lucky and see his caravan drive into the show and he rolls the window down to wave.
Or unless he tries to trample your little patch of dune grass 8)

Re: Jones Beach Sales S-L-O-W...

Last year I was in Section D, Row L...there were only two rows of actual seats in front of me, but a bunch of VIPs were sitting in the gray area. I was right on the end where the band enters. Before the show I saw Savannah and talked with Cameron Buffett. When the show ended, I shook hands with each...

Re: Why doesn't jimmy play anywhere else in NY State

I've got a good friend with insider info from Bethel Woods (the original Woodstock site) and he says that BW has been trying for the last few years to get Jimmy to come play. According to my friend, Jimmy's people are requesting 105% of the gate. You've got to sell a lot of beer to make a profit on ...

Re: Questions about JB that bother me so.....

I have a couple of questions about surfing in your sixties. Board preferences and a sincere interest in the Green Tomato. Probably topics that Jimmy would enjoy talking about. I could talk sailing and boats with him all day long and I think that's a conversation we would both enjoy. The point of my...

Re: Questions about JB that bother me so.....

Personally, I think the key to any conversation with Jimmy is to not ask the normal questions. For me, the idea would be to get him to sit down and have a beer with me AGAIN, instead of a one-beer-then-run-like-hell scenario. I actually did run into Jimmy once (on the beach in Anguilla) and nobody i...

Savannah Jane was just fine as of Aug. 31. She walked by me about five times before, during and after the Jones Beach show. She didn't say hi, though. It's okay, Cameron did

Nice hat, SGH...I've got one kind of like it and it makes my head sweat when it is freezing outside. Macphin...had to bring up the cracking fingers, didn't you? Waaaayyyyyy worse than a paper cut! As for the extra weight issue...don't do it. The best way to stay warm is to be in good shape. Too thin...

Re: Advice for my first winter up north?

Being a plumber in upstate NY, we spend A LOT of time out in the cold. We use Carhartt jackets and we are never cold. They aren't the most fashionable things in the world, but they do come in pretty colors if that's what you like. (We wear black...you don't want to be able to see what ends up on our...

If those are the so-called "beautiful people," my perception of beauty must have been distorted by too many years of beer.

Gotta agree with C-Dawg on this one...I was in Rochester yesterday and easily could have ran up to Niagara Falls if I knew Mac was there. I definately would have made the trip if I knew Jimmy was gonna be there today.

Re: This is getting a bit old

Just to throw another wrinkle into the argument... I bought the digital download version of Encores from Walmart.com (trying to live by the "I've got too much stuff..." philosophy and de-crap my life). I paid $9.00 for it. I debated long and hard (about five minutes total) over whether to ...

Let's not forget that it was the UK version of Come Monday that Jimmy heard while in London, prompting him to say, "Damn, I've got a hit record! So I went home, bought a Boston Whaler and the rest is history."

Re: Vacuum Cleaners - Input?

We had a robovac that we used on hardwood and tile floors. The thing sucked great and did a nice job, but every time we turned it on and left the house the cats got into the tequila by the time we got home. It also had severe problems with different elevations in flooring. If it hit the little ledge...
