Re: Who's going to ATL Dec. 1, 2021?

Stumbled in to a front row ticket at face value ($191) so I wasn't planning on going to this show but I guess I am now. lol Never done a Jimmy Atlanta show before. I wish it was Lakewood but oh well. So this Centennial Yards lot will be the best tailgating spot? I will defer to the locals on this o...

Who's going to ATL Dec. 1, 2021?

At this point, I'm assuming I'm getting tix this Saturday for the Dec. 1. I've been to 8 or 9 concerts, but because of work and other conflicts, I haven't seen one since 2012. Geez! I was at the State Farm Arena show (then Philips) in 2007, and the tailgating at The Gulch was really fun, second only...

Re: Who's going to Atlanta, GA on 4/25/2019?

Finally snagged a couple of lawn tix. Never been to this venue, but it looks like a good spot, especially for tailgating. I know they generally don't open the lots for parking here until an hour or two before shows, but I assume this policy does not apply to Buffett shows — as was the case for the t...

Brown-Eyed Girl. Too many great Buffett songs to do this Van Morrison karaoke standard instead.

Re: Who's going to Vegas 10-20-2018?

I've got a friend who lives in Vegas, and I'm thinking of going to visit him and dragging him to his first Buffett show (my 9th) in October. To me, the best part of the Buffett experience is the tailgate, and as a Georgian I've been to a few of those at Lakewood, where there is one giant parking lot...

Re: Atlanta/Nashville 2014

Been to a lot of Lakewood shows, and it's a great spot for tailgating. Chastain is bad for Parrotheads on many levels — size, price, tailgating, etc. Was excited to see Atlanta scheduled for May 27 after I had to miss it last year, but now I'll miss it again this year unless I can catch it in anothe...

tailgating tips?

Haven't been to Lakewood since the '99 show. What's the status of tailgating there as far as best places to park and places you're free to drink and behave like, well, a Parrothead? As much as I'm glad Buffett is playing outdoors in ATL again, The Gulch near Philips sure was a convenient and fun pla...

I sat (OK, stood) behind the stage and high up in Philips Arena, and I thought the sound was fine after the first song. I couldn't even tell what the song was at the time. Then again, I had a lot of rum and tequila in "The Gulch" where so many of us were tailgating. I prefer it be an outdo...

Memorial Stadium in Columbus, Ga., because it's down the road from me, on the banks of the Chattahoochee, and it holds about 25,000-plus for concerts. The company that produces his concerts has a contract to bring concerts to this city, usually at the Civic Center next door, but said they think Buff...

I'd rank it in the bottom five of all his albums -- right up there (down there, rather) with Beach House and Last Mango. I had low expectations for LTC after getting the feeling he was slapping this album together to capitalize on the success of "5 o'clock." I keep listening and trying to ...

There are several, but the one that stands out is blues artist Taj Mahal. I heard "Fishing Blues" on RM and had to check the guy out. Got his "Giant Step/Ol' Folks At Home" double album from late 60s and this year I scooped up tickets to see him at an intimate setting in a hole i...

Well, who knows about airplay? I can see it both ways. Country music sales were way down in 2003, and 5OCS was one bright spot. The execs have a tendency to seize everything that seems hot and ride it til it burns out. They may want to see "if there's anything to this Buffett phenomenon." ...

I also have a feeling that with Jimmy seizing the opportunity to get some country radio play on the heels of "Five O'Clock" that keeping these songs off RM may be a bit of an overture to the country music establishment. They may not take kindly to being beaten to the punch on airplay. With...

Darn, just got home from work. I work late at a newspaper. Been waiting for this Hawaii show all night. Got me through the day. Maybe Jimmy's trying out some of the new album material and is trying to keep it hush-hush. I think RM would have let folks know a long time ago that they weren't doing thi...

Journalist. I design the front page of the Columbus (Ga.) Ledger-Enquirer and write a Sunday humor column (with frequent references to Buffett). Have published one book, "I Heard It Through The Kudzu Vine" with a few Buffett references, as well. I'm a recovering sports writer.
