Thanks to JB, I'm now a Bob Marley fan.

After hearing and reading Jimmy Buffett trumpet the greatness of Bob Marley for so long, I finally decided to give the legendary dreadlocked rasta a try. And I'm glad I did. In the space of less than a month, Bob Marley and the Wailers have made their way into my top ten list of all time favorite ...

First time concert goer has questions.

Hey, it's been a while since I've been on the forum, but I'm back now with tickets to my first Buffett show, row 27 seats to the Frisco, TX concert next Saturday night. Being a total novice, I do have a few questions that I'd appreciate help with. I was wondering how early we need to get to the park ...

Re: "Great" B-movies.

When I was five or six, my brother took me to the drive in to see a flick called "When Women Had Tails".

It might be one of my favorite B movies, except I don't remember anything about it except the title :).

"Great" B-movies.

Hey, a movie doesn't have to be expensive or well produced to be great, now, does it?

Does a movie even have to be good to be great??

That might make an interesting discussion.

Which is sorta why I brought it up.

Just off the top of my head, one of my "most favoritest" "B" movies would have to ...

75 years ago today...

...Elvis Presley was born in Tupelo, Mississippi.

Twenty one years later, his star would go supernova.

Elvis changed the world.

And this year, I'll be 42.

Ooh, as old as Elvis was when he died.

TCM is playing "Elvis on Tour" now, from 1972. Good flick.

Long live the King!

I like them both.

It's allowed.

And even if it were someone like Linda Ronstadt (" It's a real conflict for me when I go to a concert and find out somebody in the audience is a Republican.... It can cloud my enjoyment."), I'd wish them well.

She doesn't have to worry about me attending her ...

Would you make the same remark about Jimmy Buffett and the various drugs he has admitted to using if he was hospitalized with chest pains?

Just wondering.

"Rise of the Preppers"

Are you a "prepper"?

http://www.newsweek.com/id/228428?GT1=43002

FROM THE ARTICLE: " 'You don't have to have a survival retreat loaded with guns secluded in the wilderness to be a prepper,' adds David Hill Sr., 54, a former jet mechanic who runs the Web site WhatisaPrepper from his home in rural ...

I didn't take any offense. I was just pointing out, as you did in your first post, that politics is one thing but humanity is another.

Heck, I'd even wish Al Franken good luck if he had health problems!

No, really! :)

Re: Rush Limbaugh hospitalized with chest pains.

One doesn't have to be a fan or agree with someone's politics to wish them well personally, true.

I never cared for Bill Clinton politically, but when he had his surgery a few years back I did send "Get well" greetings via email.

Bad part is, he thinks I like him now :). I somehow got signed up ...

Texas Tech fires Mike Leach.

Sounds like the Red Raiders are pulling a boner.

This James kid seems like a whiny little b-brat who's able to get back at the coaches for their lack of special treatment because he has a famous father.

Big mistake for TT to let the best coach they ever had go.

On the plus side, OU could use him ...

This is a superb DVD set. The video of the Dec. 1977 Austrailia concert alone is worth the cost. A brilliant, energetic performance; JD fairly glows with artistic charisma.

My only question is, why were these performances kept from us for so long??

In the last few years New West Records has released a lot of the old ACL shows on CD and DVD. It would be cool if they'd do the same with the JB ACL shows, though I don't know the legalities/rights issues involved there.

I picked "Nobody from Nowhere". Good song. But there are several others that could've gotten my vote, too.

Does anyone know if the Willie mentioned in "We Learned to be Cool from You" is Willie Nelson? Just curious.
