Re: What is the WORST Jimmy Buffett song?
Without a doubt, the worst is "She's Got You." "Math Suks" may be silly and dumb, but at least it's not butchering someone else's classic. Among Buffett originals? Probably "Chill the Rose" or "We're Still Here" (although I guess the latter doesn't count here ...

Word from another website (and a guy who says he contacted Winchester's wife) is he's not dead yet. Here's hoping that's true!

Re: Least Favorite JB cover
Some good (or rather bad) nominations have been made already, but I can't imagine anything JB has ever sung - whether he wrote it or not - is ever going to be worse than his cover of "She's Got You". JB himself said of Patsy Cline, "There's just no way you can touch her." Too bad...

Re: The Affordable Care Act and YOU
I read a article today , saying how most people ( young healthy adults , and unemployed) will pay the fine , the 1st year it's 95.00 , 2nd is 395.00 then 695.00 , the cost would be cheaper then insurance , and they won't deny you in the emergency room. They figured about 30 million people would pay...

Re: The Affordable Care Act and YOU
my question is , if you don't take the medical Insurance , what happens if you have a medical emergency , will they deny you , and if that's the fact , and you had something potentially fatal , like a heart attack , would that be considered murder , because they refused to help. 1. That's exactly w...

Re: The Affordable Care Act and YOU
One big thing that's only being mentioned now.... there is a HUGE incentive for companies to avoid giving people more than 29 hours of work per week. In actual practice, giving them 29 can put the company in jeopardy if OT happens, so... a lot of companies are actually cutting people back to 25 hou...

Re: Listening to "You Had To Be There" today......
Considering that "Cheeseburger" has been on every one of his other live releases (except for Encores ) I find it quite refreshing that it's not on You Had To Be There . Perhaps one day if he ever sees fit to release an expanded edition of that album he'll include it. In the meantime there...

Thank you. I was wracking my brain trying to remember why I couldn't recall that version of Ragtop Day.Gypsy In The Palace wrote:

Re: Tom Petty is Doing a "Rarities" Tour -- Why Can't Buffett?
I'm reminded of the "Stumpo El Bando" gag from the 1997 tour...a lot of great songs he couldn't even remember. No reason why he couldn't relearn them, of course. On the other hand, a lot of stars reportedly don't like their early work - they consider it subpar - and Buffett is definitely o...

Re: Have you seen Big Fish?
One of my favorite movies. I can definitely see why it would appeal to Jimmy Buffett fans, too - the same sort of where-do-we-draw-the-line conundrum about semi-true stories.

I wonder if the geniuses behind this are aware of JB's politics. That at least makes it funny in a morbidly ironic sort of way.

Re: Predictions on Buffett's New album 2013.
I didn't care for Take the Weather With You and didn't even buy Buffet Hotel ...I love "Beautiful Swimmers," but I couldn't justify buying the whole album just for that. I'm going to listen long and hard before I buy the next one, I think. Now, if he does get around to putting out the Buri...

Re: JB on vinyl
I would suggest taking your Buffett collection to a local record store that specializes in selling used albums for a more accurate evaluation of their worth. That's good advice, but I do wonder if you're going to find an "expert" who has any appreciation for Buffett records and their valu...

Re: JB on vinyl
Off to see the lizard (was this on vinyl?) Yes, it was, although in my experience it's the hardest one to find on vinyl. Down to Earth is much more expensive, but if you're willing to shell out $100+, it's fairly easy to find a copy. OTSTL is the other way around: cheap when it turns up, but that d...

My wife is Asian. You couldn't exactly call her a Buffett fan, but she's learning more of his songs all the time thanks to yours truly.

Re: Jimmy's original Studio Damaged in Mobile, Ala. Tornado
Once again I'm reminded of the difference between Parrotheads and Jimmy Buffett Fans. The latter are the ones who would liken the studio in Mobile to Sun Studios. The former more than likely have never heard of "Abandoned on Tuesday".

I wish I could say this surprised me. But given some of the obnoxiousness I've witnessed at the one show I attended (and heard about from the many others my friends have been to), I'm afraid it doesn't.

It was circa 1983 - I was ten or thereabouts - and my best pal was the kid on the next block, whom we'll call Jason. (Well, okay, that was his real name.) My mother couldn't stand him because he was a little troublemaker with minimal supervision at home because his divorced mother was a night-shift ...

I got it, took the survey, got as far as saying I haven't been to a Buffett show in five years (my last one was in 2002) and that's all she wrote.
