We haven't been to The Woodlands in 5 years or so.

Taking advantage of the walkable hotels this time around for easy show access and sleeping, and also bringing the kids for the first time.

Are there any area restaurants or specific parking areas we should explore that afternoon? I see ...

Jimmy was in Austin Monday and Tuesday rehearsing at the Expo Center, apparently.

So - no Austin rehearsal gig this year.

But we can still hope for an Austin/Houston or Houston/Dallas pair of dates in October, I guess.

Jimmy’s Instagram seemed to hint a TX show is in the works for sometime in 2018 today.

I've not heard of anything yet, but we'll be there.

Since SF/Oakland are the home of the original Trader Vic's and The Tonga Room, I suspect someone will find a good tiki pre-game spot.

It was actually quite easy to get these tix this morning.

Doing mobile tix only to prevent scalping was smart.

Worth noting that there is a fancy tiki bar, Isla, a couple of blocks from the venue.

This is the annual tour warmup gig.

Looks like only Austin, TX metro residents can purchase tickets. All tickets are being delivered as mobile entry a few days before the show, I assume to prevent scalping.

Tix are $104 plus fees.

I have 4 extras available in the reserved seating area at face value.

Tix are Section 110, Row L.

These are the less expensive reserved tix ($86 ea. + service charges.)

Total for 4 was $420, so $105 each.

Wouldn't surprise me to see a Tuesday 5/24 Austin, Thursday 5/26 Houston, Saturday 5/28 Dallas run.

Unless he "secret show"s in Austin again.

I believe the reason for no broadcast (and the small venue) is that this is the first public show w/ the "Working and Playing" set/setlist - so, it's a practice run to 2,200 people before the big rooms.

We were able to grab a pair - they went in 5 minutes, but if you were refreshing at 10, you got a pair.

Nothing yet, but if it is happening, very likely to happen 2 days before or after the late May Houston show. So, probably Tues 5/26, Sat 5/30, or nothing.

Since we've had 3 years in a row in ATX, wouldn't be surprised if we get a year off.

We could use a pair of the reserved seats in the Floor or 100's sections if anyone ends up w/ extras.

Had a disconnect and bought lawn instead of reserve.

It is supposedly Thursday, May 2nd. I've heard this from several folks.

It makes sense since Jimmy has done the new tour rehearsals here for the past few years. Not sure is it is in lieu of Houston or in addition to.

I wouldn't be surprised to see another Austin date this year as well depending on tour timing - the new Austin Formula One racetrack is scheduled in April/May to open an outdoor amphitheater section w/ a capacity 0f 14,000-15,000 - so since Jimmy has taken to rehearsing the tour here, it could happen.

Any unofficial pregaming brewing for Downtown next week?

Just wondering. Am considering a bar crawl that ends at the theatre at 7:30 or so - might be the right move.

This is like the Fenway/Wrigley shows in that it's smack in the middle of downtown - pretty much no surface parking in sight. It would be very easy to do a bar crawl, though - plenty of spots nearby for drinks.

Honestly, you don't need to line up early. This is a really small venue for Jimmy. I believe the floor capacity is 1,200, so even at the back, you might be 100 feet from the stage. I suspect you could turn up whenever you wanted and stand within 50-60 feet of the stage. It's a totally great room ...
